Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui motif menonton beauty v-log Rachel Goddard di FISIP Universitas Brawijaya. Berdasarkan tipe kebutuhan tambahan yang dikembangkan oleh Katz dalam West&Turner (2008) peneliti mencari motif berdasarkan teori uses & gratification. Motif yang dimaksud adalah afektif, kognitif, integratif personal, integratif sosial, dan pelepasan ketegangan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori uses and gratification yang meneliti efek penggunaan media massa terutama new media atau internet. Objek penelitian ini berupa new media, yaitu video V-Log Rachel Goddard di YouTube. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan analisis deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan 150 kuesioner online. Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa terdapat tiga motif yang paling mendominasi motif menonton beauty v-log Rachel Goddard di FISIP Universitas Brawijaya adalah motif pelepasan ketegangan pada item kejenuhan, sedangkan motif terendah pada penelitian ini adalah motif integratif sosial pada poin kontak dengan keluarga. Sedangkan motif yang paling mendominasi dari kelima motif adalah motif Pelepasan ketegangan.

English Abstract

This study aims to determine the motive of watching beauty v-log Rachel Goddard in FISIP Universitas Brawijaya. Based on the type of additional needs developed by Katz in West & Turner (2008) researchers looking for motive based on the theory of uses & gratification. The motive in question is cognitive needs, affective needs, personal intergrative needs, social integrative needs, and escapist needs. This study uses the theory of uses and gratification that examines the effects of mass media use, especially new media or the internet. The object of this research is a new media, the video blogging of Rachel Goddard on YouTube. This research method using quantitative method with descriptive analysis. Data collection techniques in this study using 150 online questionnaires. The results showed that there are three motives that dominate the Beauty V-Log watch of Rachel Goddard in FISIP University of Brawijaya is escapist needs motive on saturation points, while the lowest motive in this study is the social integrative motive on points of contact with the family. While the most dominant motive of the five motives are Escapist Needs motives.
