Abstract

Proses manufaktur sekarang ini telah berkembang sangat pesat, dalam perkembangan jaman saat ini dunia perindustrian dituntut untuk mengikuti perkembangan teknologi terbarukan. Dalam hal ini untuk menunjang perekonomian Indonesia perkembangan industri manufaktur menjadi sangat penting agar ketergantungan import barang dari luar negeri menjadi berkurang. Diantara teknologi industri manufaktur yang bermunculan tersebut adalah Electropolishing. Dimana electropolishing merupakan proses finishing permukaan secara electrochemical untuk mencapai surface roughness rendah. Material yang akan di-polish dihubungkan pada anoda dalam sel elektrolisis, sedangkan logam sejenis dihubungkan pada katoda. Anoda dan katoda bekerja di dalam cairan elektrolit. Dalam hal ini electropolishing ditujukan untuk menurunkan kekasaran plat stainless steel 316L untuk pengaplikasian stent jantung. Stent merupakan implant yang memiliki struktur jala (mesh) dan memiliki kemampuan untuk menahan tekanan dari dinding pembuluh darah. Stent ini memiliki permukaan mirip jala (mesh) sehingga perlu dilakukan penghalusan permukaan dengan menggunakan electropolishing. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi parameter berupa tegangan kerja dan waktu proses electropolishing terhadap penurunan surface roughness pada material stainless steel 316L untuk aplikasi stent jantung serta variasi parameter yang direkomendasikan. Selain dilakukan pengukuran surface roughnees juga dilakukan uji SEM (scaning electron Microscope) untuk lebih memperjelas hasil yang didapatkan. Hasil percobaan memberikan informasi bahwa pengaruh tegangan, dan waktu proses electropolishing menghasilkan hubungan dimana semakin tinggi dan lama waktu proses electropolishing mengakibatkan penurunan surface roughness stainless steel 316L.

English Abstract

The current manufacturing process has grown very rapidly, in the current era of the industrial world is required to follow the development of renewable technology. In this case to support the Indonesian economy the development of manufacturing industry becomes very important for the dependence of imports of goods from abroad to be reduced. Among the emerging industrial manufacturing technologies are Electropolishing. Where electropolishing is an electrochemical surface finishing process to achieve low surface roughness. The material to be polish is connected to the anode in the electrolysis cell, whereas a similar metal is connected to the cathode. Anodes and cathodes work in electrolyte fluids. In this case electropolishing is intended to reduce the roughness of 316L stainless steel plate for the application of heart stents. Stent is an implant that has a mesh structure and has the ability to withstand the pressure of the blood vessel wall. This stent has a mesh-like surface so it needs to be smoothed surface by using electropolishing. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of parameter variation in the form of working voltage and the time of electropolishing process to the decrease of surface roughness on 316L stainless steel material for heart stent application and variation of recommended parameters. In addition to surface roughnees measurements also performed SEM (scaning electron microscope) to further clarify the results obtained. The experimental results provide information that the effect of stress, and the time of the electropolishing process resulted in a relationship where the higher and longer electropolishing process resulted in decrease of 316L stainless steel roughness surface.
