Abstract
Skripsi ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pekerja seks komersial direpresentasikan dalam film Prenjak oleh Wregas Bhanuteja. Peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian semiotika Roland Barthes. Dengan memfokuskan pada gagasan dua tingkat dalam pertandaan (two order of signification) yaitu Konotasi dan denotasi. Metode penelitian yang peneliti gunakan dalam skripsi ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa dokumentasi file film prenjak dan beberapa data yang turut mendukung penelitian ini. Dari hasil penelitian ini terdapat beberapa temuan oleh peneliti diantaranya ialah tokoh Diah memiliki karakter sebagai perempuan yang kuat, bertanggung jawab dan rela berkorban walaupun dia adalah seorang pekerja seks komersial yang biasa dipandang buruk oleh masyarakat. Diah memiliki conflict role dimana ia adalah seorang ibu namun juga sebagai seorang pekerja seks komersial. Tokoh Diah digambarkan wregas sebagai perempuan yang berpenampilan cenderung tertutup tanpa gaya bicara manja selayaknya PSK kebanyakan. Film prenjak dianggap memberikan angin segar dalam dunia perfilman independen Indonesia khususnya bertemakan pekerja seks komersial.
English Abstract
This thesis is intended to find out how commercial prostitute are represented in a prenjak film by wregas bahanuteja. By using the semiotics research method of Roland Barthes. Focusing on the two-order of signification. The idea in two order of signitification is connotation and denotation. The research method that the researchers used in this thesis is a qualitative method with data collection techniques from documentation of prenjak film and several some data that support this research. From the results of this study there are several findings by researchers this is include; Diah has the character as a woman who is strong, responsible and willing to sacrifice even though she is a commercial Prostitute who is usually considered as a person who against the norm by the public. Diah has a conflicted role where she is a mother and also as a prostitute worker at the same times. Diah's figure is described by Wregas as a woman who appeared to be enclosed without a made up speaking style like most of prostitutes does. Prenjak films are considered as something new and fresh in the field of independent Indonesian cinema, especially when it related to prostitutes.
