Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat persaingan pada konten berita lokal di situs berita online Malangtoday.net dan Malangvoice.com dilihat dari tema konten berita berdasarkan tingkat ketergantungan (niche breadth) dan ketumpangtindihan (niche overlap) pada periode bulan Agustus 2017 dan Oktober 2017. Metode yang akan digunakan oleh peneliti untuk menganalisis tema pada konten berita, yaitu dengan menggunakan analisis isi. Metode ini digunakan dengan melihat isi konten berita dari kedua situs berita online tersebut. Setelah itu data yang telah dianalisis akan dihitung dengan menggunakan Teori Niche yang berfungsi untuk mengetahui sumber penunjang kehidupan media (niche breadth) dan ketumpangtindihan (niche overlap). Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa niche breadth yang diperoleh penulis dari kedua situs berita online Malangtoday.net dan Malangvoice.com berdasarkan tema berita adalah 6,23 (nB < 11,3) termasuk kategori moderat untuk Malangtoday.net dan 5,44 (nB < 5,6) termasuk kategori spesialis untuk Malangvoice.com. Sedangkan untuk niche overlap dari kedua situs berita online berada di angka 0,0415 (nO < 0,20) yang artinya menunjukkan tingkat persaingan yang terjadi sangat kuat karena angka dari data yang ada mendekati 0.
English Abstract
This research is to knowing about the level of competition of the local news content on the online news sites Malangtoday.net and Malangvoice.com viewed from the theme of the news content based on the level of dependence (niche breadth) and overlap (niche overlap) in the period of August 2017 and October 2017. In this research, the method that will be used to analyze the theme content in the local news is using content analysis. This method is used by looking at the theme of the news content from the both of online news sites. After that, the data that has been analyzed will be calculated by using Niche Theory to find out the source of life that support the media (niche breadth) and overlap (niche overlap). The results of this study will indicate that the niche breadth obtained by authors from both online news sites Malangtoday.net and Malangvoice.com based on news theme are 6.23 (nB < 11.3) category moderate for Malangtoday.net and 5.44 (nB < 5.6) category specialist for Malangvoice.com. As for the overlap niche from the both online news sites are 0.0415 (nO <0.20) which means that the level of competition that occurs is very strong because the number of existing data close to 0.
