Abstract
Penyuluhan kesehatan gigi dan mulut merupakan suatu upaya guna meningkatkan kesadaran anak untuk menjaga kesehatan gigi dan mulutnya sehingga tercapainya tingkat kebersihan gigi dan mulut yang baik. Permainan merupakan media penyuluhan efektif untuk mengembangkan kemampuan anak secara optimal. Monopoli gigi dan Dent-C (Dental Card) adalah permainan papan dan kartu yang berisi tentang ilmu kesehatan gigi dan mulut pencegahan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan efektifitas dari kedua permainan tersebut terhadap tingkat kebersihan gigi dan mulut siswa kelas IV dan V. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasi Eksperimental dengan rancangan Non Equivalent Control Group Design. Sampel dipilih dengan teknik total sampling dan kemudian dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok monopoli gigi dan Dent-C. Variabel yang diteliti adalah perubahan skor OHI-S pada kedua kelompok yang diukur dengan cara pemeriksaan intraoral pre-test pada hari ke-1 dan post-test pada hari ke-21. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kedua media permainan ini mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa tentang kesehatan gigi dan mulut sehingga terjadi perubahan perilaku kesehatan dan penurunan skor OHI-S. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah permainan monopoli gigi dan Dent-C (Dental Card) memiliki efektivitas yang sama dalam meningkatkan tingkat kebersihan gigi dan mulut siswa kelas IV dan V di SDN Bunulrejo 4 Malang.
English Abstract
Dental health education is an effort to raise children’s awareness to maintain their oral health in order to achieve the excellent level of oral hygiene. Game is the effective outreach media to develop childrens ability optimally. Dental monopoly and Dent-C (Dental Card) are a board game and card game that contain knowledge of the science of preventive oral health. The goal of this study was to compare the effectiveness of both to the oral hygiene level of students in grade 4th and 5th. The type of this study is Quasi-Experimental with Non Equivalent Control Group Design. The samples were selected using total sampling technique and then divided into two groups, namely the dental monopoly and Dent-C. The variables studied were the changes of OHI-S scores in the group of dental monopoly and Dent-C which were measured by intraoral examination of pre-test on the 1st day and post-test on the 21st day. The results showed that both the game is capable of increasing student’s knowledge of the science of preventive oral health resulting in a change of oral health behavior and decreased scores of OHI-S. The conclusion of this study is that dental monopoly and Dent-C have the same effectiveness in improving the oral hygiene level of students in grade 4th and 5th at SDN Bunulrejo 4 Malang.
