Abstract

Penyakit jantung koroner disebabkan oleh aterosklerosis yang terjadinya dipercepat oleh beberapa faktor, khususnya kadar kolesterol darah. Salah satu alternatif yang dapat menurunkan kadar kolesterol total dalam darah jangka panjang adalah dengan mengkonsumsi bahan makanan alami seperti terong ungu. Terong ungu (Solanum melongena L.) merupakan sejenis tanaman sayur yang mengandung pigmen antosianin cukup tinggi yakni 8 – 85 mg per 100 gram nya serta serat pektin. Pektin dikenal mampu menurunkan kadar kolesterol total dalam darah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian jus terong ungu (Solanum Melongena L.) terhadap kadar kolesterol total tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus strain wistar) yang diberi diet aterogenik. Penelitian True Experimental Laboratoric dengan metode Control Group Post Test Design ini menggunakan sampel tikus putih yang dipelihara di laboratorium farmakologi FKUB. Pemilihan sampel dilakukan menggunakan metode RAL (Rancangan Acak Lengkap) dengan jumlah sampel total sebanyak 30 tikus putih. Data diolah dan dianalisis menggunakan SPSS 16. Uji statistik menggunakan one way ANOVA dan uji lanjutan Post Hoc Tukey. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kelompok negatif dengan kelompok positif dan kelompok positif dengan dosis II terong ungu terhadap kadar kolesterol total (p=0,01;p<0,05). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah pemberian jus terong ungu dapat menurunkan kadar kolesterol total tikus secara signifikan. Saran dari penelitian ini adalah perlu dilakukan penelitian lebih lanjut dengan dosis yang lebih bervariasi dan jangka waktu yang lebih lama agar pengaruh pemberian jus terong ungu terhadap kadar kolesterol total dapat terlihat lebih jelas.

English Abstract

Coronary heart disease is caused by the occurrence of atherosclerosis is accelerated by several factors, especially blood cholesterol levels. One alternative that can lower total cholesterol levels in the blood is to consume natural food ingredients such as eggplant. Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is kind of vegetable plant than contain high anthocyanin level, that is 8 - 85 mg on 100 gram edible portion and pectin fiber. Pectin is known to reduce total cholesterol in the blood. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of purple eggplant juice (Solanum melongena L.) to total cholesterol levels of white rats (Rattus norvegicus Wistar strain) were given the atherogenic diet. This true experimental laboratoric study using control group post test design performed in white rat that placed in pharmacologic laboratory of Brawijaya University. Sampling was carried out by completely random sampling with 30 rats for total sample. Data were processed and analyzed using SPSS 16. Statictical test using one way ANOVA and post hoc tukey after it. The results showed a significant correlation between the negative with the positive group and the positive group with the second dosage of eggplant on total cholesterol (p = 0.01, p <0,05). The conclusion of this study is the eggplant juice can lower total cholesterol rats significantly. Base on this study, further research should be conducted with varying dosage and for longer periods of time so that the effect of eggplant juice to total cholesterol can be seen more clearly.
