Abstract
Industri pertambangan adalah bisnis yang sangat sensitif terhadap isu-isu lingkungan. Perusahaan-perusahaan di industri ini diharapkan untuk mengkomunikasikan informasi lingkungan perusahaan kepada pemangku kepentingan secara umum. Internet merupakan media yang umum digunakan untuk komunikasi perusahaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana potensi pemanfaatan internet sebagai media komunikasi untuk laporan lingkungan yang dilakukan oleh perusahaan pertambangan terbuka di Indonesia. Menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan melakukan analisis teori media richness. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa saat ini, potensi web ini belum dimanfaatkan secara maksimal oleh perusahaan untuk komunikasi lingkungan
English Abstract
Mining industry is a business that is highly sensitive towards environmental issues. Companies in the industry are expected to communicate the corporate environmental information to general stakeholders. Internet is a medium that is commonly used for corporate communication This research is aimed to find out the extent of the potentials of the internet utilization as a communication media for environmental report conducted by public mining companies in Indonesia. It uses qualitative research method by conducting the media richness theory analysis. The findings of this study indicate that currently, the potential of the web is not fully utilised by companies for environmental communication.
