Abstract

Perkembangan industri di berbagai sektor terus meningkat seiring dengan kemajuan teknologi. Tidak dapat dipungkiri, ilmu logam dan pengelasan modern memegang peranan penting dan menjadi wujud perkembangan teknologi perindustrian yang sangat esensial untuk beberapa abad terakhir. Namun disamping berbagai kelebihan yang dimiliki, ilmu logam maupun pengelasan memiliki permasalahan besar yang wajib untuk diperhatikan dalam dunia perindustrian, yakni kerentanannya terhadap fenomena Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC). SCC diakibatkan oleh adanya kombinasi yang berkesinambungan antara korosi dan tegangan. SCC merupakan salah satu permasalahan terbesar dalam dunia industri saat ini, fenomena ini tidak hanya merugikan secara materi namun juga nyawa. Tegangan yang mempengaruhi SCC tidak hanya berasal dari luar sistem benda namun juga daripada benda itu sendiri, seperti tegangan sisa. Besarnya tegangan sisa bahkan dapat menyamai nilai tegangan luluh suatu material, hal ini menggambarkan besarnya peran tegangan sisa dalam memicu SCC. Maka dari itu diperlukan usaha untuk menghilangkan tegangan sisa tersebut, salah satunya ialah dengan perlakuan stress relieving. Pada penelitian ini digunakan jenis material aluminium, jenis pengelasan Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), serta jenis larutan korosif HCl 1M, dimana terdapat tiga variabel bebas, yakni spesimen aluminium tanpa pengelasan (A), spesimen aluminium dengan pengelasan (WA), dan spesimen aluminium dengan pengelasan dan perlakuan stress relieving (SR). Penelitian dilakukan dengan pemberian beban konstan sebesar 25 kg, 30 kg, 35 kg, 40 kg, 45 kg, dan 50 kg pada setiap spesimen uji yang mana bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai tegangan ambang serta karakteristik masing-masing spesimen uji pada lingkungan SCC. Daripada penelitian ini didapatkan hasil sebagai berikut; Nilai tegangan ambang spesimen uji A, WA, dan SR secara berurutan ialah 30.454 MPa, 20.648 MPa, dan 25.551 MPa, serta karakteristik KIC dan KISCC ialah >29.494 MPa√

English Abstract

Industrial developments in various sectors continue to increase along with technological advances. It is undeniable that metal science and modern welding play an important role and become a very important form of industrial technology development for the last few centuries. But in addition to the various advantages possessed, metal science and welding has a big problem that must be considered in the world of industry, namely its vulnerability to the phenomenon of Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC). SCC is caused by a continuous combination of corrosions and stresses. Today SCC is one of the biggest problems in the world of industry, this phenomenon is not only harmfully materially but also life. The stress that affects SCC is not only from outside the system of objects but also of the object itself, like residual stress. The magnitude of residual stress can even match the yield stress value of a material, this represents the magnitude of the residual stress role in triggering the SCC. Therefore, it will take an effort to remove the residual stress, which likes stress relieving heat treatment. In this research, researcher used aluminium as the type of specimen’s material, the type of welding was Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), as well as the type of corrosive solution was HCl 1M, where there were three independent variables; Aluminum specimens without any welded joint and any heat treatment (A), welded aluminum specimens (WA), and welded aluminum specimens with a stress relieving treatment on its joint (SR). The study was carried out by giving a constant load of 25 kg, 30 kg, 35 kg, 40 kg, 45 kg, and 50 kg on each test of each specimen which aims to know the value of threshold stress and the SCC environment characteristics of each specimen. Rather than this research, the following results are obtained; The threshold stress values of specimens A, WA and SR, respectively, are 30,454 MPa, 20,648 MPa, and 25,551 MPa, and the SCC environment characteristics of KIC and KISCC, respectively, are >29,494 MPa√m and 18,512 MPa√m, 31,043 MPa√m and 13,889 MPa√m , and 33.43 MPa√m and 16,933 MPa√m.
