Abstract
Pemerintah Indonesia telah menetapkan kurikulum baru, yaitu Kurikulum2013.Kurikulum 2013 menetapkan beberapa kompetensi dasar dan kompetensi intisebagai referensi dan pedoman dalam merancang kegiatan di kelas dan bahan ajar,termasuk buku teks. Oleh karena itu, saat merancang buku teks, penulis harusmenggunakan kompetensi dasar dan kompetensi inti untuk memastikan bahwa bukuteks sesuai dengan kurikulum dan juga kebutuhan siswa. Mengenai kesesuaian bukuteks dengan Kurikulum 2013, peneliti ingin mengetahui kesesuaian teks deskriptifdalam sebuah buku teks bahasa Inggris dengan silabus kurikulum tahun 2013.Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif.Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis dokumen untuk mengetahui kesesuaianteks deskriptif dalam buku teks "Pathway to English untuk siswa kelas X" dengantiga kompetensi inti dalam silabus: fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan fitur bahasa.Dalam menganalisa materi, peneliti menggunakan checklist yang divalidasi dandibuat berdasarkan Kurikulum 2013.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lima teks: My Aunt Dolores, A letter ofRecommendation, Purna Bhakti Pertiwi Museum, Semarang City, dan BorobudurTemple sesuai dengan kurikulum tahun 2013. Berdasarkan analisis, setiapkompetensi inti atau sub dimensi pada: fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsurkebahasaan ditemukan dalam teks yang dibuktikan dengan kata-kata dan kailmat.Prosentase ketiganya adalah 100%. Meskipun hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa teksdeskriptif disesuaikan dengan Kurikulum 2013, peneliti menyarankan kepada guruuntuk menggunakan sumber atau teks lain dala rangka memenuhi kebutuhan siswaakan jenis-jenis teks. Selanjutnya, peneliti juga menyarankan kepada peneliti yanglain, untuk menganalisis jenis teks yang berbeda dalam buku teks ini denganmenggunakan parameter yang berbeda seperti silabus dan pendekatan komunikatif.
English Abstract
Indonesian government has set out the new curriculum, namely Curriculum2013. Curriculum 2013 states some basic competences and core competences as thereferences and guideline in designing classroom activities and teaching materials,including textbook. Therefore, while designing the textbook, the authors should usethe basic competence and core competence to ensure that the textbook is appropriatewith the curriculum and also with the students’ need. Regarding the appropriatenessof textbook with the Curriculum 2013, the researcher wants to know theappropriateness of descriptive text in an English textbook with syllabus of curriculum2013.In this research, the researcher used descriptive qualitative method. Thisresearch used document analysis to know the appropriateness of descriptive texts in“Pathway to English textbook for grade X students” with three core competences insyllabus: social function, generic structure, and language features. In analyzing thematerial, the researcher used validated checklist that was designed based onCurriculum 2013.The result showed that five descriptive texts: My Aunt Dolores, A letter ofRecommendation, Purna Bhakti Pertiwi Museum, Semarang City, and BorobudurTemple were appropriate with curriculum 2013. Based on the analysis, every corecompetence or sub dimensions in term of: social function, generic structure, andlanguage features was found in the text and proved by evidences in form of wordsand sentences. The percentage of the third term was about 100%. Although the resultshowed that the descriptive texts were matched with Curriculum 2013, the researchersuggested the teachers to add additional texts in order to fulfill students’ need.Further, the researcher also suggested further researcher to analyze different texttypes in this textbook using different parameter such as syllabus and communicativeapproach.
