Abstract
Isu kesehatan tentang rokok tembakau telah lama menjadi perbincangan yang sering diperdebatkan terutama tentang efek bahaya yang mengancam pada perokok aktif maupun perokok pasif. Produsen, pemerintah hingga tenaga medis telah melakukan berbagai upaya dalam membatasi konsumen rokok. Seiring berjalannya waktu, muncullah rokok elektrik yang dianggap sebagai alternatif berhenti merokok tembakau. Fenomena munculnya rokok elektrik menggiring perokok aktif khususnya untuk beralih menjadi vapers dan isu kesehatan bahwa rokok elektrik lebih baik dari rokok tembakau terutama pada kandungan zat yang dihisap menjadi satu poin penting bahwa rokok elektrik mulai memasifkan dirinya sebagai alternatif merokok seperti halnya yang dilakukan oleh Malang Vapers Community. Kajian ini ditinjau menggunakan konsep sosiologi kesehatan tentang medikalisasi dari Levi Strauss untuk lebih dalam mengetahui tentang fenomena rokok elektrik yang kaitannya dengan kegiatan yang dilakukan oleh Malang Vapers Community dalam melakukan edukasi tentang rokok elektrik. Dengan menggunakan definisi konseptual kelompok sosial dan edukasi tentang kesehatan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus dan teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik penjodohan pola. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Medikalisasi yang dilakukan oleh Malang Vapers Community yang dimulai tahun 2013 hingga sekarang adalah dengan melakukan edukasi tentang identifikasi penyakit mereka sendiri melalui pengalaman-pengalaman yang mereka alami dengan menentukan penilaian konsekuensi penyakit tersebut sebagai bentuk melawan biomedis serta mereka berupaya dalam melakukan deprofesionalisasi medis untuk menguatkan proses medikalisasi bahwa rokok elektrik merupakan salah satu obat bukan medis sebagai upaya berhenti merokok tembakau dan alternatif rokok yang lebih sehat berdasarkan penjabaran pengalaman yang dialami.
English Abstract
Health issues of smoking tobacco has long been a frequently contentious discussions especially about the effect of danger on active or passive smoker. Manufacturers, governments until medical personnel have made various efforts to restrict cigarette consumers. Over time, comes the electric cigarette is considered as an alternative to quit smoking tobacco. The phenomenon of the rise of ecigarettes led smokers in particular to switch into vapers and health issues that ecigarettes is better than smoking tobacco, especially in the substances is sucked into an important point that the electric cigarette started massive itself as an alternative to smoking as done by Malang Vapers Community. This study is reviewed using the concept of health sociology about the medicalization of Levi Strauss to be in knowing about the phenomenon of the electric cigarette relation to the activities carried out by the Malang Vapers Community to educate about the electric cigarette. By using the conceptual definition of social group and education about health. The research method used was qualitative research method with approach case studies and data analysis techniques using the technique of suitable pattern. The technique of collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. Medicalization conducted by Malang Vapers Community that started in 2013 until now is to educate about the identification of the disease on their own through the experiences they had with determining assessment consequences of the disease as a form against the biomedical and they are trying to do deprofesionalization medical to strengthen the process of medicalization that the electric cigarette is one of the drugs are not medically as an attempt to stop smoking tobacco and a healthier alternative to smoking based on the elaboration of the experience.
