Abstract
Menulis adalah keterampilan bahasa yang penting untuk dipelajari, terutama pada masa yang semakin mengglobal ini. Keberhasilan pembelajaran menulis dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor, salah satunya adalah pemilihan tugas menulis dalam buku teks bahasa Inggris. Siswa harus mengerjakan berbagai jenis tugas menulis untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis mereka. Namun, tidak semua buku teks memiliki jenis tugas menulis yang beragam. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menguraikan tugas menulis dalam sebuah buku teks bahasa Inggris berdasarkan teori jenis tugas menulis oleh Paul Nation. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah tugas menulis yang ditemukan telah mencakup teori jenis tugas menulis oleh Paul Nation. Penelitian ini tergolong penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Hal ini dilakukan dengan melakukan analisis isi dalam menelaah buku ajar. Objek penelitian ini adalah buku teks Bahasa Inggris berjudul “Talk Active 2” yang diterbitkan oleh Yudhistira untuk Siswa Kelas XI SMA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 58 tugas menulis pada "Talk Active 2" yang mencakup teori Paul Nation dengan skor 64,28% dan tergolong “cukup” setelah dihitung menggunakan skala Likert. Selain itu, 10 tugas dikategorikan sebagai experience task dengan persentase 17,25%, 20 tugas dikategorikan sebagai shared task dengan persentase 34,48%, 24 tugas dikategorikan sebagai guided task dengan persentase 41,37%, dan 4 tugas dikategorikan sebagai independent task dengan persentase 6,90%. Oleh karena itu, tugas menulis di “Talk Active 2” termasuk dalam kategori tugas yang baik dan bervariasi.
English Abstract
Writing is an important language skill to learn, especially in this increasingly globalized world. The success of teaching writing is influenced by several factors, including the selection of writing tasks in English textbooks. Students should work on different types of writing tasks to improve their writing skills. However, not all textbooks have various types of writing tasks. The purpose of this research is to elaborate on the writing tasks in an English textbook based on the types of writing by Paul Nation. It is also aimed to find out whether the writing tasks cover the types of writing tasks by Paul Nation’s theory. This research is classified as descriptive qualitative research. This is done by conducting content analysis in examining the textbook. The object of this research was an English textbook entitled “Talk Active 2” published by Yudhistira for Eleventh Grade Students of Senior High School. The result showed that there are 58 writing tasks in “Talk Active 2” which cover Paul Nation’s theory as it got 64,28% and classified as “Fair” after being calculated using Likert’s scale. Moreover, 10 tasks were categorized as experience task with the percentage is 17,25%, 20 tasks are categorized as shared task with the percentage is 34,48%, 24 tasks are categorized as guided task with the percentage is 41,37%, and 4 tasks are categorized as independent tasks with the percentage is 6,90%. Therefore, the writing tasks in “Talk Active 2” are categorized into good and varied tasks.
