Abstract
Ada banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi cara orang berkomunikasi satu sama lain. Dalam menggunakan bahasa sebagai alat komunikasi, biasanya wanita dan pria memiliki ciri khas yang berbeda. Penggunaan bahasa yang berbeda antara pria dan wanita berfungsi sebagai identitas. Perempuan biasanya menggunakan bahasa untuk mengekspresikan perasaannya terhadap suatu hal. Penelitian ini menyelidiki fitur-fitur bahasa perempuan yang digunakan dalam video tutorial makeup pada kanal YouTube Vogue Beauty Secrets. Objek yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah model-model Hollywood, yaitu: Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, dan Hailey Bieber. Ada dua pertanyaan penelitian yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini. Pertanyaan pertama adalah “Apa saja jenis fitur bahasa perempuan yang digunakan oleh model Hollywood dalam menampilkan tutorial makeup di kanal Youtube Vogue Beauty Secrets?” dan pertanyaan kedua adalah "Bagaimana cara model Hollywood menampilkan fitur bahasa perempuan dalam menampilkan tutorial makeup di kanal Youtube Vogue Beauty Secrets?” Untuk menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan teori dari Lakoff (1975) tentang fitur bahasa perempuan. Teori ini relevan untuk digunakan karena peneliti menganalisis fitur-fitur bahasa perempuan yang digunakan oleh model-model Hollywood dalam menampilkan tutorial makeup. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis isi karena penelitian ini berfokus untuk mempelajari dan menganalisis konten dari kanal YouTube Vogue Beauty Secrets yang menjelaskan tentang keberadaan kata-kata tertentu sebagai bahasa perempuan. Untuk mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil temuan dan pembahasan, peneliti menemukan enam fitur bahasa perempuan yang digunakan secara konsisten oleh para model Hollywood dalam menampilkan tutorial makeup di kanal YouTube Vogue Beauty Secrets. Terdapat pengisi leksikal, kata sifat kosong, istilah warna yang tepat, penguat, penghindaran kata umpatan yang kuat, dan kata sifat kosong. Kesimpulannya, adanya istilah warna yang tepat menjadi ciri khas bahasa perempuan pada video tutorial makeup yang membuatnya berbeda dengan jenis video atau talkshow lainnya. Leksikal hedges atau pengisi dan penekanan yang tegas menjadi salah satu ciri khas bahasa perempuan yang mendukung dalam mendeskripsikan tutorial makeup mereka kepada penonton.
English Abstract
There are many factors which affect people communicate one and another. In using language as a communication tool, usually women and men have different features. The use of language which effect between men and women serves as the identity. Women usually use the language to express their feeling about something. This research investigated the women's language features use in makeup tutorial video on YouTube channel Vogue Beauty Secrets. The object that are used in this research is from Hollywood models, they are: Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Hailey Bieber. There are two research questions addressed in this research. The first question is “What are the types of women’s language features used by Hollywood models in showing makeup tutorials on the Youtube channel Vogue Beauty Secrets?” and the second question is “How do Hollywood models present women's language features in showing makeup tutorials on YouTube Channel Vogue Beauty Secrets?” To analyse the data, the researcher used the theory from Lakoff (1975) about women's language features. This theory is relevant to use because the researcher analysed women's language features used by Hollywood models in showing makeup tutorials. This research used content analysis method since this research focuses on studying and analysing content from YouTube Channel Vogue Beauty Secrets which explain about the presence of certain words as women's language. In order to gather the data, the researcher used descriptive qualitative method. Based on the findings and discussion, the researcher found six women's language features that are used consistently by Hollywood models in showing makeup tutorials on the YouTube channel Vogue Beauty Secrets. There are lexical hedges or fillers, empty adjectives, precise color terms, intensifiers, avoidance of strong swear words, and empty adjectives. In conclusion, the existence of precise color terms becomes a characteristic of women’s language on makeup tutorial videos that makes it different from other types of videos or talkshow. Lexical hedges or fillers and emphatic stress become one of the characteristic features of female language that support describing their makeup tutorials to viewers.
