Abstract
Wanita-wanita saat ini ini cenderung menciptakan lingkungan negatif terhadap wanita lain di tempat kerja. Sebagai hasilnya, beberapa orang menyalahkan wanita, sementara stereotip gender adalah alasan mengapa lingkungan ini ada. Perilaku wanita-wanita ini disebut sebagai Queen Bee Syndrome, di mana mereka menciptakan lingkungan yang tidak sehat di antara wanita-wanita di tempat kerja. Wanita-wanita ini mengadopsi sifat-sifat maskulin untuk berhasil di tempat kerja. Mereka percaya bahwa hanya sifat-sifat maskulin yang dapat membawa mereka menuju kesuksesan. Studi ini membahas perilaku Queen Bee Syndrome yang digambarkan dalam film Cruella: The Movie 2021. Studi ini mengungkapkan stereotip gender dan karakteristik seorang Queen Bee. Metode yang digunakan dalam studi ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan penelitian kepustakaan untuk mengumpulkan dan menganalisis data. Data dikumpulkan dari film Cruella: The Movie 2021. Dalam menganalisis data, penulis menggunakan pendekatan sosiologis, teori Queen Bee Syndrome, dan teori studi film: teori mise-en-scène dan sinematografi. Hasil dari studi ini menunjukkan bahwa stereotip gender terkait dengan munculnya seorang Queen Bee dalam film Cruella: The Movie 2021. Stereotip gender yang ditampilkan dalam film adalah bahwa wanita seharusnya patuh, berperan sebagai pengurus rumah tangga, dan kurang cerdas dibanding pria. Dua karakter wanita, Baroness dan Cruella, menunjukkan sifat-sifat Queen. Baroness memiliki tiga karakteristik Queen Bee, yaitu merendahkan, menyimpan dendam, dan manipulatif. Cruella juga menunjukkan tiga sifat Queen Bee, yaitu menyabotase, menghina, dan manipulatif. Selain itu, Cruella juga membuktikan bahwa stereotip gender berperan dalam transformasinya menjadi seorang Queen Bee. Kedua karakter tersebut mengadopsi sifat-sifat maskulin, seperti kompetitif dan berani mengambil risiko. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa stereotip wanita dalam masyarakat telah mendorong beberapa wanita untuk mengadopsi sifat-sifat maskulin demi mencapai kesuksesan dalam hidup mereka.
English Abstract
Women these days tend to create a negative environment toward other women in the workplace. As a result, some people blame it on women while the gender stereotype is the reason why this environment exists. The act of these women is called Queen Bee Syndrome, these women create an unhealthy environment among women at work. These women adopt masculine traits in order to succeed in the workplace. They believe that only masculine traits can lead them to success. This study discussed the behavior of Queen Bees portrayed in Cruella: The Movie 2021. It exposed the gender stereotype and the characteristics of a Queen Bee. The method used in this study is qualitative research with library research to collect and analyze the data. The data were collected from Cruella: The Movie 2021. In analyzing the data, the writer used the sociological approach, Queen Bee syndrome theory, and film studies theory: mise-en-scene theory and cinematography. The result of the study shows that gender stereotypes are related to the birth of a Queen Bee in Cruella: The Movie 2021. The gender stereotypes shown in the movies are that women should be obedient, women as housekeepers, and women are less intelligent than men. As for two of the female characters: Baroness and Cruella exhibit Queen Bees traits. Baroness has three characteristics of Queen Bees namely: demeaning, holding grudges, and manipulative. Cruella also exhibits three Queen Bee traits: sabotaging, insulting, and manipulative. Besides, Cruella also proved that gender stereotypes play a role in her transformation into becoming a Queen Bee. Both characters adopt masculine traits, such as being competitive and risk-taking. Therefore, it can be inferred that women stereotypes in society have led some women to adopt masculine traits in order to achieve success in their life.
