Abstract
Selama situasi pandemi, siswa diwajibkan untuk belajar di rumah. Ini memiliki dampak negatif pada siswa, terutama pada keterlibatan siswa selama interaksi online. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, Sistem Poin Partisipasi (PPS) diterapkan untuk membantu mencapai keberhasilan akademik dan keterlibatan siswa. Sistem Poin Partisipasi (PPS) bertujuan untuk menganalisis persepsi siswa terhadap Sistem Poin Partisipasi (PPS). Data diambil dari 4 partisipan sekolah di kota Malang yang dilakukan dengan wawancara tatap muka. Para siswa dipilih untuk menjadi peserta berdasarkan skor keterlibatan dan bahasa Inggris mereka. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. penelitian ini juga menggunakan data observasi dan pedoman wawancara sebagai instrument penelitian. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa siswa merasa senang dan bersemangat mengikuti kelas bahasa Inggris online selama Sistem Poin Partisipasi (PPS) diterapkan. Mereka juga berpendapat bahwa PPS layak digunakan untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa. Selain dari keterlibatan siswa, penelitian ini telah menunjukkan perspektif siswa tentang Sistem Poin Partisipasi (PPS) yang diimplementasikan dalam kelas online. Hasilnya, penelitian ini dapat digunakan untuk peneliti selanjutnya yang ingin menyelidiki keterlibatan siswa dengan Sistem Poin Partisipasi (PPS) yang diimplementasikan selama kelas bahasa Inggris online dan menganalisis persepsi siswa mengenai Sistem Poin Partisipasi (PPS).
English Abstract
During the pandemic situation, students were obligated to study at home. It has negative impacts on students, especially on student engagement during online interaction. To solve the problem, the Participation Point System (PPS) was implemented to help achieve academic success and student engagement. The Participation Point System (PPS) aims to analyze students’ perceptions of the Participation Point System (PPS). The data were taken from 4 participants from schools in Malang that were done by face-to-face interviews. The students were selected to be participants based on their engagement and English scores. This study used a qualitative method. This study observation sheet and interview guide as the instruments as well. The findings show that students feel enjoyed and excited about participating in online English classes during the Participation Point System (PPS) implemented. Students also think that PPS is worth using to enhance student engagement. Aside from student engagement, this study has demonstrated a student’s perception regarding the Participation Point System (PPS) that is implemented in online classes. As a result, this study can be used for future researcher who wants to investigate student engagement with the Participation Point System (PPS) implemented during English online classes and analyze students’ perceptions regarding the Participation Point System (PPS).
