Abstract

Bahasa memiliki peran yang melibatkan penyampaian ide dan pesan dari satu orang ke orang lain dan orang harus dapat memilih kata yang tepat dan akurat saat berkomunikasi untuk mencegah kesalahpahaman, salah tafsir, dan konflik antara pembicara dan lawan bicara. Selain itu, etiket bahasa adalah faktor penting lain yang harus diperhitungkan. Karena kesopanan sangat dipengaruhi oleh geografi dan budaya, bangsa dan budaya yang berbeda memiliki ekspektasi yang berbeda-beda tentang apa yang merupakan perilaku yang pantas, seperti menyapa orang lain dengan sebutan kehormatan. Untuk mengetahui lebih lanjut mengenai hubungan antara penggunaan sebutan kehormatan untuk menunjukkan kesopanan, peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif untuk mengumpulkan data dari film The Ron Clark Story tahun 2006 untuk jumlah massal penggunaan sebutan kehormatan karena interaksi antara guru, siswa, dan orang tua. sambil juga memeriksa penggunaan sebutan kehormatan dalam lingkungan pendidikan. Dari 83 penggunaan sebutan kehormatan pada film tersebut, studi ini kemudian menyimpulkan bahwa sebutan kehormatan memainkan peran penting dalam menjaga komunikasi yang penuh hormat dan sopan di antara siswa, guru, dan anggota staf, dan The Ron Clark Story secara efektif menggambarkan penggunaan sebutan kehormatan dalam interaksi sekolah, menyoroti bagaimana berbagai jenis sebutan kehormatan digunakan untuk mengatasi individu berdasarkan gelar dan hierarki mereka. Kehormatan umumnya membantu menciptakan suasana hormat dan sopan di dalam sistem sekolah.

English Abstract

Language serves a role that involves communicating ideas and messages from one person to another and people need to be able to select the proper and accurate words when communicating in order to prevent misunderstandings, misinterpretations, and conflicts between speakers and interlocutors. Moreover, language etiquette is another crucial factor that must be taken into account. Since, politeness is greatly influenced by geography and culture, different nations and cultures have varying expectations of what constitutes proper behavior, such as addressing another with honorifics. In order to examine the relationship between the usage of honorifics to denote politeness, the researcher used qualitative approach to collects data from the 2006 film The Ron Clark Story for the mass amount of honorifics usage due to the interactions between the teachers, students, and parents while also examining the usage of honorifics in an educational environment. From 83 cases of honorifics found in the movie, the study then concluded that honorifics play an important role in maintaining respectful and polite communication among students, teachers, and staff members, and The Ron Clark Story effectively portrays the use of honorifics in school interactions, highlighting how different types of honorifics are used to address individuals based on their titles and hierarchy. Honorifics generally help to create a respectful and courteous atmosphere inside the school system.
