Abstract
English Abstract
Dietary diversity describes the quality of consumption based on food groups consumed in a certain period. The principle of dietary diversity is required to avoid the risk of malnutrition and other diseases. The occurrence of COVID-19 pandemic is affecting dietary patterns due to limited access and availability of food, especially for students who live in boarding houses. This study was conducted on college students because they were affected by COVID-19 so lectures were conducted online. This study aimed to determine differences in dietary diversity among Nutrition Department students at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya. This study used an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional study design and was conducted on 199 nutrition students using quota sampling method. A self-reported food record questionnaire has been used in this study for two days which was taken on each weekday and weekend. The result of this study indicated the differences of dietary diversity score in weekday and weekend (p=0,024; p<0,05). In addition, there were also differences (p=0,001; p<0,05) in the dietary diversity scores between men and women. Whereas for the dietary diversity scores between men and women on a weekday (p=0,149; p>0,05) there weren't any differences. No differences in dietary diversity scores were also found between students in each study period both on weekday and weekend (p=0,232 and p=0,665; p>0,05, respectively). During online lectures, there were differences in student dietary diversity scores according to day effectiveness and gender on weekend. However, there were no significant differences according to the gender on weekday and study period.
