Abstract

Tanaman semangka [(Citrullus lanatus Thunb) Matsu. & Nakai] merupakan tanaman hortikultura yang memiliki nilai ekonomi tinggi dan mudah ditanam oleh para petani, serta masih dalam satu famili dengan melon, mentimun, dan labu dalam famili Cucurbitaceae. Upaya yang dilakukan untuk meningkatkan produksi semangka non biji, perlu adanya sudut pandang berdasarkan ilmu pemuliaan tanaman yakni menghasilkan varietas hibrida tanaman semangka non biji. Sebelum pelepasan varietas, perlu adanya evaluasi dan karakterisasi dari calon-calon varietas semangka non biji, sebagai pengamatan dalam pelepasan varietas serta dibandingkan dengan varietas komersial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keragaman F1 dari populasi calon varietas semangka tanpa biji dan mengetahui keunggulan antar calon varietas semangka tanpa biji dan antara calon varietas dengan varietas pembanding. Pengajuan hipotesis diduga terdapat berbagai keragaman F1 dari populasi calon varietas semangka tanpa biji dan ditemukannya calon varietas semangka tanpa biji dengan memiliki berbagai karakter lebih unggul dibandingkan varietas pembanding. Penelitian telah dilaksanakan di Desa Pondok Agung, Kecamatan Kasembon, Kabupaten Malang pada bulan Juni-Agustus 2022. Bahan tanam tersebut merupakan generasi F1 dari CV. Borneo Seed Indonesia yang meliputi 6 calon varietas semangka non biji meliputi SNA-157, SNA-159, SNA-178, SNA-173, SNA-199, dan SNA-193 dan 1 varietas komersial yaitu Madrid. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 7 genotipe semangka tanpa biji dalam 4 ulangan Pengamatan karakter kualitatif mengacu pada pedoman UPOV untuk pengamatan bentuk morfologi tanaman serta RHS untuk pengamatan corak warna pada morfologi tanaman. Analisis data kuantitatif menggunakan ANOVA apabila terdapat perbedaan nilai maka dilakukan uji lanjut DMRT taraf 5%, Koefisien Keragaman (KK) dalam genotipe. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan analisis keseragaman karakter kualitatif, bahwa calon varietas SNA-157 (V2) memiliki tingkat keseragaman tinggi dibandingkan calon varietas lainnya. Beberapa karakter kualitatif dengan tingkat keseragaman tinggi diantaranya rasio helai daun, warna daun, depresi ujung buah, depresi pangkal buah, pola garis buah, dan warna buah. Analisis karakter kuantitatif berdasarkan uji lanjut DMRT taraf 5 %, bahwa calon varietas yakni SNA-157 (V2) pada beberapa karakter memiliki nilai yang berbeda dibandingkan atau sama dengan varietas hibrida komersial diantaranya umur bunga jantan, umur bunga betina, umur panen, bobot buah per tanaman, bobot buah per hektar, panjang buah, dan total padatan terlarut. Kemudian, analisis koefisien keragaman (KK) karakter kuantitatif dalam genotipe, didapatkan bahwa calon varietas SNA-157 (V2) memiliki keragaman terendah dan tampak seragam. Beberapa karakter dengan keragaman yang rendah pada SNA-157 (V2) diantaranya panjang tanaman, diameter batang, umur bunga jantan, umur bunga betina, umur panen, bobot per buah, bobot per hektar, diameter buah, panjang buah, dan total padatan terlarut. Sehingga, calon varietas SNA-157 (V2) dapat dipertimbangkan sebagai varietas baru berdasarkan analisis tingkat keseragaman karakter kualitatif yang tinggi, analisis KK dalam genotipe dengan keragaman rendah dan tampak seragam, serta memiliki beberapa karakter unggul yang berbeda atau sama dengan varietas hibrida komersial.

English Abstract

Watermelon plant [Citrullus lanatus (Thunb) Matsu. & Nakai] are horticultural crops that have high economic value and are easily grown by farmers, and are still in the same family as melon, cucumber and pumpkin in the Cucurbitaceae family. Efforts are being made to increase seedless watermelon production, it is necessary to have a point of view based on plant breeding science, namely to produce hybrid varieties of seedless watermelon plants. Before cultivating varieties, it is necessary to evaluate and characterize prospective non-seed watermelon varieties, as observations in learning varieties and compared with commercial varieties. This study aims to determine some of the F1 variability of seedless watermelon variety candidate populations and to determine the superiority of seedless watermelon varieties and the control varieties. Submission of the hypothesis suspected that there is a variability of F1 from the candidate population of seedless watermelon varieties and the discovery of seedless watermelon varieties with various superior characters compared to comparison varieties. The research was conducted in Pondok Agung Village, Kasembon District, Malang Regency. Conducting research in June-August 2022. The planting material is the F1 generation from CV. Borneo Seed Indonesia which includes 6 candidates for seedless watermelon varieties including SNA-157, SNA-159, SNA-178, SNA-173, SNA-199, and SNA-193 and 1 commercial variety, namely Madrid. The research design used a randomized block design (RBD) with 7 seedless watermelon genotypes in 4 replications. Observation of qualitative characters refers to the UPOV guidelines for observing plant morphology and the RHS for observing color patterns on plant morphology. Quantitative data analysis using ANOVA if there is a difference in values then the DMRT level 5% test is carried out, next analysis with Coefficient of Variance (CV%) in the genotype The results showed that the qualitative character uniformity analysis indicated that the candidate variety SNA-157 (V2) had a level of uniformity compared to other candidate varieties. Some qualitative characters with a high degree of uniformity include leaf blade ration, leaf color, depression at base, depression at apex, pattern of strips, and main color of flesh fruit. Quantitative character analysis based on further test using DMRT level of 5%, that the candidate variety, namely SNA-157 (V2) has several characters that have significant different compared to or the same as the commercial hibrida variety including age of male flowers, age of female flowers, harvest age, fruit weight per plant, yield per plant, fruit length, and total soluble solid content. Then, analysis of the Coefficient of Variance (CV%) of the quantitative characters in the genotypes, it was found that the SNA-157 (V2) variety included plant length, stem diameter, male flower age, female flower age, harvest age, fruit weight per plant, yield plant, fruit diameter, fruit length, and total soluble solids content. Thus, the candidate variety SNA-157 (V2) can be considered as a new variety based on analysis of the high level of uniformity appearance, and having several superior characters that are different or the same as commercial hybrid variety.
