Abstract

Cabai merah (Capsicum annum L) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang memiliki banyak manfaat untuk kebutuhan industri ataupun rumah tangga. Rerata hasil produktivitas cabai pada tahun 2015-2019 berturut-turut 8.65, 8.47, 8.46, 8.77, 9.10 ton ha−1 (Direktorat Jendral Hortikultura, 2019). Banyaknya petani dalam usaha budidaya cabai masih belum mencukupi kebutuhan cabai di Indonesia. Upaya dalam perakitan varietas unggul dengan berdaya hasil tinggi mampu meningkatkan produktivitas cabai besar di Indonesia. Uji daya hasil merupakan tahap akhir pada program pemuliaan tanaman untuk mendapatkan varietas yang diinginkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui daya hasil dari calon varietas cabai merah (Capsicum annuum L.) dengan varietas pembanding Bewe dan Pilar. Hipotesis yang digunakan yakni terdapat calon varietas dari cabai merah (Capsicum annuum L.) yang memiliki daya hasil sama tinggi dibandingkan dengan varietas pembanding. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada kebun percobaan PT. Borneo Seeds Malang yang terletak di Dusun Manggisari, Desa Bocek, Kecamatan Karang Ploso, Kabupaten Malang, Jawa Timur pada bulan Maret-Agustus. Bahan tanam yang digunakan yakni empat calon varietas serta dua pembanding yaitu pembanding Bewe dan Pilar. Penelitian disusun menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan enam perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Dalam satu ulangan terdapat 24 tanaman dengan 11 sampel, sehingga terdapat 576 tanaman dalam satuan percobaan. Karakter yang diamati terdiri dari karakter kuantitatif dan karakter kualitatif. Karakter kuantitatif meliputi tinggi tanaman, umur berbunga, jumlah bunga per tanaman, jumlah buah per tanaman, umur panen, fruit set, panjang buah, diameter buah, bobot per buah, bobot buah per tanaman, hasil buah per hektar, dan daya simpan. Karakter kualitatif meliputi bentuk buah dan pola daun. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan analisa ragam, apabila berpengaruh nyata maka dilanjutkan dengan uji DMRT taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa keempat calon varietas berpengaruh nyata terhadap hampir keseluruhan karakter kuantitatif terkecuali pada karakter tinggi tanaman. CV-49 memiliki hasil unggul pada jumlah buah, jumlah bunga,umur berbunga, umur panen, bobot per tanaman, bobo per plot dan hasil per Ha yang sama tinggi dengan pembanding Bewe yang mencapai 27,75 ton/Ha. Berdasarkan pengamatan karakter bentuk buah, didapatkan hasil Narrowly Triangular untuk keseluruhan calon varietas yang diamati dan pola daun Dropping pada keseluruhan calon varietas yang diuji.

English Abstract

Chili pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) is a plant that has many benefits for industrial or household needs. The average yield of chili productivity in 2015–2019 was 8.65, 8.47, 8.46, 8.77, and 9.10 tons ha−1 (Directorate General of Horticulture, 2019). The number of farmers in the chili cultivation business is still not enough to meet the needs of chili in Indonesia. Efforts to develop superior, high-yielding varieties have increased the productivity of large chilies in Indonesia. The yield test is the final stage in a plant breeding program to obtain the desired variety. This study aims to determine the yield potential of the prospective red chili variety (Capsicum annuum L.) with the Bewe and Pilar comparison varieties. The hypothesis used is that there are candidate varieties of red chili (Capsicum annuum L.) that have the same high yield compared to the control varieties. This research was conducted at the experimental garden of PT. Borneo Seeds Malang, located in Manggisari Hamlet, Bocek Village, Karang Ploso District, Malang Regency, East Java, in March-August. The materials used were four candidate hybrid and two controls, namely the Bewe and Pilar controls. This research was arranged using a randomized block design (RBD) with six treatments and four replications. In one replication, there were 24 plants with 11 samples, so there were 576 plants in the experimental unit. The observed characters consist of quantitative characters and qualitative characters. Quantitative characters include plant height, flowering age, number of flowers per plant, number of fruits per plant, harvesting age, fruit set, fruit length, fruit diameter, weight per fruit, fruit weight per plant, fruit yield per hectare, and shelf life. Qualitative characters include fruit shape and leaf pattern. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance; if they showed a significant effect, they were continued with the DMRT at the 5% level. The results showed that the four candidate hybrid had a significant effect on almost all quantitative characters except for plant height characters. CV-49 has superior yields in number of fruits, number of flowers, age of flowering, age of harvest, weight per plant, weight per plot, and yield per ha, which is the same as the comparison variety Bewe, which reaches 27.75 tons/ha. Based on observations of fruit shape characters, narrowly triangular results were obtained for all of the observed varieties and dropping leaf patterns for all of the tested varieties.
