Abstract
English for specific purposes diperlukan oleh orang-orang yang bekerja di bidang tertentu seperti kedokteran, militer, bisnis, dan bidang lainnya. Hal ini sejalan dengan Peraturan Menteri Pendidikan Nasional (2006) bahwa mata pelajaran bahasa Inggris di sekolah menengah kejuruan ditujukan untuk membekali siswa dengan kompetensi komunikasi bahasa Inggris untuk membantu mereka berkomunikasi dalam konteks bidang keahlian mereka. Apalagi, SMK sudah mulai mengimplementasikan kurikulum Merdeka yang memberikan keleluasaan bagi guru untuk mendesain sendiri program studinya. Namun, silabus kuliner yang ada di SMKN 3 Malang berbentuk bahasa Inggris umum dan berdasarkan kurikulum 2013. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan silabus ESP bagi siswa kuliner. Penelitian ini menggunakan proses R&D dan pengembangan berdasarkan Model 4D oleh Thiagarajan (1974). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa silabus yang ada memuat beberapa bagian yang sesuai dan tidak lengkap, yaitu informasi dasar, deskripsi mata pelajaran, dan isi. Dengan demikian, sesuai dengan analisis kebutuhan dan validasi ahli, silabus ESP dirancang dan dikembangkan untuk memodifikasi bagian-bagian tersebut, terutama isi yang mencakup topik, materi, tujuan pembelajaran, indikator, fokus bahasa, kegiatan pembelajaran, penilaian, dan alokasi waktu. Pada tahap akhir, produk akhir telah direvisi dan divalidasi oleh pakar.
English Abstract
English for Specific Purposes is needed by people who work in specific fields such as medicine, military, business, and other areas. This is in line with the regulation of the National Education Minister (2006) that English subject in vocational high school is aimed to equip the students with English communication competence to help them communicate in the context areas of their expertise. Moreover, vocational high school has started to implement the curriculum Merdeka which facilitates flexibility for teachers to design their own course. However, the existing syllabus for culinary in SMKN 3 Malang is in the form of general English and based on the curriculum 2013. Therefore, this research is aimed to develop an ESP syllabus for students of culinary. This research employed an R&D and development process based on the 4D Model by Thiagarajan (1974). The result showed that the existing syllabus contains some appropriate and incomplete parts, which are the basic information, course descriptions, and contents. Thus, according to the needs analysis and expert validation, the ESP syllabus is designed and developed to modify those parts, especially contents which cover topics, materials, learning objectives, indicators, language focus, learning activities, assessment, and time allotment. In the final stage, the final product has been revised and validated by the expert.
