Abstract
Menulis adalah keterampilan bahasa Inggris yang penting untuk dikuasai. Untuk melatih skill menulis dalam bahasa inggris siswa biasanya menggunakan media kertas untuk melatih keterampilan mereka. Namun di era pandemi covid-19 yang mengharuskan siswa untuk belajar daring dirumah, guru dan siswa harus mengubah proses belajar mengajar mereka menjadi pembelajaran online. Walaupun belajar dirumah secara online siswa tetap harus mendapatkan bimbingan yang tepat oleh guru. Oleh karena itu, guru menggunakan banyak platform aplikasi belajar yang dapat mendukung pembelajaran online ini dengan berbagai pertimbangan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa kelas academic writing, pendidikan bahasa inggris, fakultas ilmu budaya, Universitas Brawijaya tentang penggunaan Google Classroom untuk pembelajaran menulis. Peneliti menggunakan metode campuran pada penelitian ini, karena peneliti ingin mengidentifikasi persepsi siswa kelas academic writing tentang penggunaan Google Classroom sebagai media pembelajaran online mereka. Peneliti menggunakan Google Form untuk membuat angket tersebut, dan disebarkan melalui aplikasi WhatsApp dan Line. Ada sebanyak 56 peserta yang mengisi angket pada penelitian ini. Peneliti juga menambahkan wawancara untuk memperkuat data yang didapat, mengambil 5 siswa dari partisipan yang didapat. Hasil angket menunjukkan bahwa 76,78% siswa setuju bahwa Google Classroom merupakan platform yang efektif untuk pembelajaran menulis. Hasil wawancara dengan sebagian besar siswa berpendapat bahwa Google Classroom adalah aplikasi terbaik untuk pembelajaran menulis. Penggunaan Google Classroom yang cukup efektif juga dapat digunakan pada kelas lain dan kondisi lainnya.
English Abstract
Writing is an important English skill to master. To practice writing skills in English, students usually use paper-based activities to practice their writing skill. During the new normal caused by the covid-19 pandemic, teachers and students must change their teaching and learning process into online learning. Although the students study at home, students still have to get proper guidance from the teacher. Therefore, teachers use many learning application platforms that can support online learning with various considerations. This research was conducted to investigate the students' perception toward the use of Google Classroom in academic writing class in English Language Education Program, Faculty of Cultural Studies, Universitas Brawijaya. The researcher used a mix method in this research, because the researcher wants to identify deeply the perceptions of student academic writing class about using Google Classroom as their online learning platform. The researcher used Google Form to make the questionnaire, and it was distributed through WhatsApp and Line applications. There were 56 participants who filled out the questionnaire in this study. Researchers also added interviews to strengthen the data obtained, and took 5 students from the participants obtained. The results of the questionnaire show that 76.78% of students agree that Google Classroom is an effective platform for learning writing. The results of the interviews with most of the students argued that Google Classroom was the best application for learning writing. The use of Google Classroom which is quite effective can also be used in other lessons and in other conditions.
