Abstract

Salah satu aspek terpenting dalam belajar bahasa adalah keterampilan mendengarkan. Ini adalah bagian penting dari proses komunikasi yang harus dipahami siswa. Siswa dapat memperoleh informasi dan mengembangkan apa yang dikatakan pembicara dengan mendengarkan. Konsep penelitian didasarkan pada pengalaman pribadi peneliti sendiri. Lagu berbahasa Inggris memiliki dampak yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan peneliti berkomunikasi dalam bahasa Inggris. Namun, karena hanya sedikit peneliti yang menyelidiki dampak positif lagu terhadap kemajuan belajar siswa, peneliti menetapkan untuk menentukan dampak lagu bahasa Inggris terhadap keterampilan Mendengarkan Mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris. Untuk penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan desain penelitian survei. Peneliti berusaha untuk melihat keadaan yang terjadi di kalangan mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris mengenai penggunaan lagu atau musik berbahasa Inggris untuk membantu mereka meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris mereka. Purposive sampling digunakan oleh peneliti untuk mengikutsertakan mahasiswa Universitas Brawijaya angkatan 2016 yang telah mengambil semua kelas listening, dengan total 100 mahasiswa sebagai responden dalam penelitian ini untuk mempermudah penghitungan hasil dalam persen. Responden dipilih secara acak tanpa memperhatikan kategorisasi tertentu—baik mahasiswa ataupun mahasiswi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris angkatan 2016 Universitas Brawijaya berpartisipasi dalam survei yang dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner Google Forms. Dari penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa sangat setuju dengan dampak Lagu Bahasa Inggris dalam mengembangkan keterampilan mendengarkan mereka, dengan persentase 68%. 27% responden memiliki skor tinggi, yang berarti, mereka setuju dengan dampak Lagu Bahasa Inggris dalam mengembangkan keterampilan mendengarkan mereka, sedangkan responden dengan skor sedang/rata-rata hanya 3%. Responden dengan skor rendah hanya 1%, begitu juga responden dengan skor sangat rendah. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden sangat setuju dengan dampak Lagu Bahasa Inggris dalam mengembangkan keterampilan mendengarkan mereka.

English Abstract

One of the most crucial aspects of learning a language is listening skills. It is an important part of the communications process that students should understand. Students can gain information and develop what the speakers say by listening. The study's concept is based on the researcher's own personal experience. English songs have a significant impact on the researcher's ability to communicate in English. However, because there are few researchers investigating the positive impact that songs have on students' learning progress, the researcher set out to determine the impact of English songs on English Language Education Students' Listening skills. For this study, the researcher employed a survey research design. The researcher sought to look into a circumstance that occurred among English Language Education students regarding the use of English songs or music to help them improve their English skills. Purposive sampling was used by the researcher to include batch 2016 University of Brawijaya students who have taken all listening classes, with a total of 100 students as respondents in this study to make calculating the results in percent easier. The respondents were picked at random without regard to any specific categorization—both female and male students from the English Language Education batch 2016 of Universitas Brawijaya participated in the survey, which was conducted using a Google Forms questionnaire. From the research, it can be concluded that most of students strongly agree with the impact of English Songs’ in developing their listening skills, with a percentage of 68%. 27% of the respondents have a high score, which means, they agree with the impact of English Songs’ in developing their listening skills, while the respondents with medium/average score are only 3%. The respondent with low score is only 1%, as well as the respondent with very low score. This shows that most respondents strongly agree with the impact of English Songs’ in developing their listening skills.
