Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap kesulitan mahasiswa Program Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris dalam Mata Pelajaran Penulisan Akademik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif dan desain survei. Penulis mengadopsi kuesioner Marhaeni (2013) untuk mengumpulkan data. Kuesioner terdiri dari 30 pertanyaan yang difokuskan pada aspek faktor psikologis, faktor sosial budaya, dan faktor kebahasaan. Partisipan survei ini adalah 110 mahasiswa Program Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris yang terdaftar pada angkatan tahun ajaran 2017, 2018,2019. Data dianalisis melalui bantuan Microsoft Excel 2010 untuk memberikan persentase jawaban setiap pertanyaan dan rerata setiap aspek. Pertama, faktor psikologis seperti kurang percaya diri dalam pengambilan judul disertasi, pengetahuan awal topik disertasi, dan penulisan disertasi yang baik. Kedua, faktor sosiokultural meliputi kemampuan menghubungkan kalimat dan membentuknya menjadi tesis yang bermakna, pengetahuan tentang unsur leksikal dan satuan kebahasaan yang benar, dan pemahaman jurusan budaya universitas terkait format tesis. Terakhir, faktor ketiga adalah faktor kebahasaan, meminimalkan kesalahan tata bahasa dan mengetahui dan/atau menentukan unsur gramatikal mana yang harus dihilangkan, diganti, ditambah, dan disusun kembali. Kesulitan tersebut terdiri dari: Penelitian ini berimplikasi pada pendidikan penulisan akademik, khususnya penulisan disertasi. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa mahasiswa memiliki kesulitan terbesar berdasarkan faktor kebahasaan. peserta atau persepsi yang berbeda untuk penelitian ini.

English Abstract

This study aimed to reveal English Language Education Program students’difficulties in Academic Writing Subject. This study used a quantitative descriptive approach and survey design. The writer adopted Marhaeni (2013) questionnaire to collect the data. The questionnaire consisted of 30 questions that focused on the aspect of lpsychological factor, sociocultural factor, and linguistic factor. The survey participants were 110 students English Language Education Program registered in classes academic year 2017, 2018,2019.The data was analyzed through the help of Microsoft Excel 2010 to provide the percentage of each question’s answers and the mean of each aspect. Firstly, psychological factors such as lack of confidence in the decision of the dissertation title, prior knowledge of the dissertation topic, and good dissertation writing. Second, sociocultural factors include the ability to connect sentences and form them into a meaningful thesis, knowledge of the correct lexical elements and linguistic units, and an understanding of the university's cultural departments related to the format of the thesis. Finally, the third factor is the linguistic factor, minimizing grammatical errors and knowing and/or determining which grammatical elements should be removed, replaced, supplemented, and rearranged. The difficulty consists of: This research has implications for academic writing education, especially dissertation writing.The results of this study revealed that the students have biggest difficulty based on linguistic factor. of participants or different perceptions for the study.
