Abstract
Manusia adalah makhluk sosial yang diciptakan untuk berinteraksi satu sama lain dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Interaksi ini membantu orang memenuhi kebutuhan mereka dan menghasilkan solusi untuk masalah mereka. Ada banyak orang yang menyela seseorang ketika mereka berbicara. Interupsi digambarkan sebagai pelanggaran terhadap hak seseorang untuk menyelesaikan giliran percakapan. Penelitian ini memperluas pemahaman tentang interupsi dengan menganalisis perspektif interupsi yang mengklasifikasikan menjadi tiga masalah penelitian: jenis-jenis interupsi, fungsi interupsi dan bagaimana interupsi mengungkap jenis kelamin, peran dan hubungan yang muncul dalam detail interaksi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif sebagai dasar pengumpulan data. Data diperoleh dari Don’t Look Up dan hasil rekaman percakapan yang dianalisis. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan berbagai teori tentang interupsi dari Ferguson (1977), Murata (dalam Li, 2001), Kennedy dan Camden (dalam Li, 2001). Overlap interruption terjadi 28 kali, simple interruption terjadi 28 kali, silent interruption terjadi 4 kali dan butting-in interruption hanya terjadi 1 kali. Peneliti menemukan ketiga fungsi interupsi kooperatif. Agreement terjadi 8 kali, assistance terjadi 8 kali dan clarification terjadi 10 kali. Peneliti juga menemukan keempat fungsi gangguan intrusi. Disagreement terjadi 6 kali, topic change terjadi 10 kali, floor-taking terjadi 12 kali dan tangentalization terjadi 7 kali. Data dari film Don't Look Up menunjukkan bahwa interupsi mayoritas terjadi ketika laki-laki dominan, ada hubungan sebelumnya (hubungan), dan mereka berada dalam peran yang setara.
English Abstract
Humans are social beings that were created to interact with one another in daily life. These interactions help people meet their needs and come up with solutions to their problems. During conversations, sometimes people interrupt their interlocutors. Interruption is described as a violation of someone’s rights to complete a turn in conversation. The current research broadens the understanding of interruption by analyzing interruption in three areas: the types of interruption, the functions of interruption and the way interruption uncovers any gender, role and relationship emerged in the interaction. This study uses qualitative approach. The data were obtained from conversations in Don’t Look Up movie. In analyzing the data, theories on interruption proposed by Ferguson (1977), Murata (in Li, 2001), Kennedy and Camden (in Li, 2001) were used as the framework. The research reveals that overlap interruption occurred 28 times, simple interruption occurred 28 times, silent interruption occurred 4 times and butting-in interruption occurred only 1 time. Moreover, all of the three functions of cooperative interruption, namely agreement, assistance, and clarification were found in the data with the following frequency 8 times, 8 times and 10 times respectively. Regarding the function of interruption, the research also found all of the four functions of intrusive interruption. Specifically, disagreement occurred 6 times, topic change occurred 10 times, floor-taking occurred 12 times and tangentalization occurred 7 times. The analysis of Don't Look Up movie indicates that the majority of interruptions occur when men are dominant, in an equivalent role and there has been a prior connection (relationship).
