Abstract
English Abstract
Fertile soil conditions are very important in the cultivation of tomato plants (Lycopersicum esculentum). One of the efforts to form fertile soil is to provide organic and inorganic fertilizers. Organic fertilizers contain organic matter that functions as a soil enhancer. Organic fertilizers are very good for soil health but have low nutrient content so they require large amounts to meet the nutritional needs of plants. Inorganic fertilizers have a high nutrient content but their continuous use can damage the health of the soil. Therefore, the aim of this study was to study the effect of applying different fertilizer doses of a combination of NPK fertilizer and compost on the growth and yield of tomato plants. The hypothesis of this research is that the combination of NPK and compost can increase the growth and yield of tomato plants (Lycopersicum esculentum) and treatment of 75% NPK + 10 tons/ha of compost shows higher growth and yield than without the combination. This research was conducted from August 2021 to February 2022 on the grounds of Universitas Brawijaya campus 2, Mrican Village, Mojoroto District, Kediri. Geographically, the research area is located at an altitude of 67 meters above sea level with a daily temperature of ± 31 °C, an average monthly rainfall of 199 mm and an air humidity of about 85% with Alluvial soil type. This study is a non-factorial experiment designed using a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with a combination of doses of NPK fertilizer and compost consisting of 11 treatments, namely: P1 = 100% NPK, P2 = 75% NPK, P3 = 75% NPK + 10 tons/ha compost, P4 = 75% NPK + 20 tons/ha compost, P5 = 50% NPK, P6 = 50% NPK + 10 tons/ha compost, P7 = 50% NPK + 20 tons/ha compost, P8 = 25% NPK + 10 tons/ha of compost, P9 = 25% NPK + 20 tons/ha of compost, P10 = 10 tons/ha of compost and P11 = 20 tons/ha of compost. Each treatment was repeated 3 times to obtain 33 experimental plot units. The placement of the treatments in each group was done randomly. Observational data obtained were analyzed using the analysis of variance of the F test at a significant level of 5% to determine the interaction or real effect of the treatment. If there is a treatment that gives a real effect, then it is continued with the further test of BNJ at a significant level of 5%. The results of this study showed that the treatment of 75% NPK + 20 tons/ha of compost was higher than the 100% NPK treatment on plant height with an average of 89.20 cm, the number of leaves with an average of 131.67 leaves/plant. The treatment of 75% NPK + 10 tons/ha compost and 50% NPK + 20 tons/ha compost did not differ compared to 100% NPK in the number of flowers/plants, number of fruits/plants and fruit set. In the treatment, 75% NPK + 10 tons/ha of compost yielded 51.56 tons ha-1 (an increase of 14.58% compared to 100% NPK which produced 45.00 tons ha-1
