Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi pengajaran responsif guru terhadap pendidikan multikultural di kelas. Ini adalah studi analisis isi dan subjek penelitian adalah seorang guru yang mengajar bahasa Inggris kepada siswa multikultural. Data dikumpulkan melalui adegan film tertentu yang terjadi di dalam kelas dengan menggunakan 7 poin teori oleh Gary Howard. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, ditentukan bahwa guru memiliki prinsip mengajar positif bagi siswa yang memuat 7 prinsip pengajaran responsif budaya seperti; Siswa ditegaskan dalam hubungan budaya mereka, Guru secara pribadi mengundang, Lingkungan belajar secara fisik dan budaya mengundang, Siswa diperkuat untuk pengembangan akademik, Perubahan instruksional dibuat untuk mengakomodasi perbedaan peserta didik, Kelas dikelola dengan kontrol yang tegas, konsisten, dan penuh kasih, dan Interaksi stres secara kolektif maupun individualitas. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa prinsip-prinsip tersebut signifikan bagi peningkatan siswa dan dapat menjadi cara alternatif untuk mengajar siswa multikultural di kelas.
English Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the teacher responsive teaching to multicultural education in the classroom. This is a content analysis study and the research subject is a teacher who teaches English to multicultural students. The data were collected through certain movie scenes that occurred in the classroom using the 7 points of Gary Howard's theory. Based on the findings, it was determined that teacher has positive teaching principles for the students that load the 7 principles for culturally responsive teaching such as; Students are affirmed in their cultural connection, Teachers are personally inviting, Learning environments are physically and culturally inviting, Students are reinforced for academic development, Instructional changes are made to accommodate differences in learners, Classroom managed with firm, consistent, and loving control, and Interaction stress collectively as well as individuality. These results shows that the principles used is significant for students’ improvement and it can be an alternative way to teach in multicultural students in classroom.
