Abstract

Industri akuakultur merupakan salah satu peluang terbesar yang menjanjikan. Pada tahun 2017, produksi akuakultur di Asia sebesar 102,9 juta ton dan negara berkembang dengan peningkatan 6,13% per tahun. Spesies krustasea tertinggi selama 2017 yaitu udang vaname. Namun, produksi udang vaname memiliki kendala, pada penurunan kualitas air akibat akumulasi bahan organik dan penyakit udang karena bakteri patogen (Vibrio spp.). Penanggulangan yang sudah diterapkan tidak ramah lingkungan. Aplikasi probiotik umumnya memanfaatkan bakteri seperti Bakteri Asam Laktat (BAL) dari genus Lactobacilli. Beberapa isolat BAL diketahui memiliki kemampuan menghambat bakteri patogen serta menghasilkan aktivitas enzim untuk meningkatkan kecernaan pakan.

English Abstract

The aquaculture industry is one of the biggest promising opportunities. In 2017, aquaculture production in Asia was 102,9 million tons and developing countries with an increase of 6,13% per year. The highest crustacean species in 2017 is vaname shrimp. However, vaname shrimp production has constraints, on the decline in water quality due to accumulation of organic matter and shrimp disease due to pathogenic bacteria (Vibrio spp.). Countermeasures that have been implemented are not environmentally friendly. Probiotic applications generally utilize bacteria such as Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) of the genus Lactobacilli. Some LAB isolates are known to have the ability to inhibit pathogenic bacteria and produce enzyme activity to increase feed digestibility.
