Abstract

Pandemi Covid-19 telah melanda berbagai negara di dunia, termasuk Indonesia. Pada tanggal 2 Maret 2020, Presiden Indonesia menyatakan Covid-19 sudah masuk ke Indonesia. Hal ini berdampak pada berbagai bidang, termasuk pendidikan. Nadiem Makarim selaku Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Indonesia mengumumkan bahwa pengadaan sekolah tatap muka akan diganti secara online. Guru dan siswa melaksanakan Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh (PJJ) untuk memutus mata rantai penyebaran Covid-19. Banyak platform yang direkomendasikan untuk pembelajaran online, salah satunya adalah Google Classroom. Salah satu SMP di Pontianak, SMPN 10 Pontianak, menggunakan Google Classroom sebagai media utama dalam pembelajaran, khususnya di pelajaran bahasa inggris. Melihat fakta tersebut, maka peneliti tertarik untuk melakukan penelitian tentang persepsi siswa mengenai penggunaan Google Classroom dalam pelajaran bahasa Inggris pada saat pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode desain kuantitatif. Lebih tepatnya, penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah angket yang dibagikan secara online kepada 100 siswa kelas 8 SMPN 10 Pontianak. Banyak siswa merespon positif mengenai penggunaan Google Classroom sebagai media pembelajaran selama pandemi. Hasil penelitian ini terdiri dari 3 aspek yaitu kegunaan, kemudahan penggunaan dan kepuasan menggunakan Google Classroom sebagai media pembelajaran bahasa Inggris pada saat pandemi. Sebagian besar siswa setuju bahwa platform Google Classroom membantu mereka terus belajar bahasa Inggris selama pandemi. Siswa juga merasakan kemudahan dalam menggunakan Google Classroom baik dari segi fitur maupun penggunaan sebagai media dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Dan juga selama semester ganjil tahun 2020, siswa merasa puas menggunakan Google Classroom sebagai media pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dikala pandemi. Peneliti menyarankan peneliti selanjutnya untuk mengembangkan penelitian ini dengan menggali lebih jauh persepsi siswa dalam menggunakan Google Classroom atau platform lain sebagai media pembelajaran selama pandemi.

English Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has hit various countries in the world, including Indonesia. On March 2, 2020, President of Indonesia stated that Covid-19 had entered Indonesia. This has an impact in various fields, including education. Nadiem Makarim as the Indonesian Ministry of Education and culture announced that face-to-face school procurement will be replaced online. Teachers and students carry out Distance Learning (PJJ) to break the chain of the spread of Covid-19. Many platforms are recommended for online learning, one of which is Google Classroom. One of SMP in Pontianak, SMPN 10 Pontianak, uses Google Classroom as the main medium in learning, especially ELT. Looking at these facts, the researcher was interested in conducting a research about the perceptions of students regarding the use of Google Classroom in English lessons during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used quantitative design method. More precisely, this study used survey method. The instrument used was a questionnaire that was distributed online to 100 grade 8 students at SMPN 10 Pontianak. Many students responded positively to the use of Google Classroom as a learning medium during the pandemic. The results of this study consist of 3 aspects, namely usefulness, ease of use and satisfaction of using Google Classroom as a medium for learning English during the pandemic. Most of the students agreed that the Google Classroom platform helped them to keep learning English during the pandemic. Students also find it easy to use Google Classroom both in terms of features and use as a medium in learning English. And also during the odd semester of 2020, students were satisfied using Google Classroom as a medium for learning English during the pandemic. Researchers suggest further researchers to develop this research by further exploring students' perceptions of using Google Classroom or other platforms as learning media during the pandemic.-
