Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penerapan strategi Listen-Read-Diskusikan (L-R-D) dalam meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa di kelas dua MTs SHIFA 'KALIPARE pada tahun akademik 2019/2020 (2) Untuk mengetahui sejauh mana penggunaan strategi Listen-Read-Diskusikan (L-R-D) dalam meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa di kelas dua MTs SHIFA 'KALIPARE. Untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian, Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dilakukan untuk 30 siswa VIII MTs SHIFA 'KALIPARE dengan kriteria keberhasilan ketika minimal 60% siswa mampu mencapai skor lebih dari ≥ 70. Kriteria tersebut ditetapkan sehubungan dengan kondisi sebelumnya bahwa 60.40% siswa berada di skor pemahaman rendah sementara hanya 39.60% berada di skor pemahaman tinggi. Untuk mengukur pemahaman membaca siswa, teks Recount digunakan sebagai pre-test dan post-test. Sementara, membaca teks dan mendengarkan digunakan sebagai latihan selama di kelas, dan pedoman wawancara digunakan untuk mengevaluasi kegiatan belajar mengajar berhasil atau tidak dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan strategi L-R-D sebagai strategi dapat membantu siswa memahami teks bahasa Inggris lebih cepat dan peningkatannya terlihat dari peningkatan skor. Selain itu, siswa mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan dalam kosakata bahasa Inggris mereka seperti yang ditunjukkan pada hasil post-test bahwa 20% siswa mendapatkan nilai pemahaman yang rendah. Dengan demikian kriteria sukses tercapai. Selain itu, strategi L-R-D dapat membantu siswa mengekspresikan idenya saat belajar bahasa Inggris, kesimpulannya penggunaan strategi L-R-D dapat meningkatkan pemahaman membaca siswa dalam membaca teks bahasa Inggris.
English Abstract
The objectives of the research are to find out implementation of the Listen-Read-Discuss (L-R-D) strategy in improving student’s reading comprehension in the second grade of MTs SHIFA’ KALIPARE in the academic year of 2019/2020 and to investigate to what extent the use of Listen-Read-Discuss (L-R-D) strategy it improves student’s reading comprehension in the second grade of MTs SHIFA’ KALIPARE. To reach the research objectives, the Classroom Action Research was conducted on 30 students of VIII MTs SHIFA' KALIPARE with the criterion of success when a minimum of 60% of students are able to reach a score of more than 70. Such criterion is set with regard to the previous condition that 60.40% of students were in low comprehension score while only 39.60 % were in high comprehension score. To measure the students’ reading comprehension, Recount texts were used as a pre-test and post-test. Meanwhile, reading text were used as an exercise during the class, and interview guideline was employed to evaluate the teaching-learning activities which was a success or not the learning process. This study showed that the use of the L-R-D strategy as a strategy can help students to comprehend English text faster and improvement can be seen from the increase in the score. Furthermore, students have a significant improvement in their English vocabulary as shown on the results of the post-test that 20% of students get low comprehension scores. Thus the criterion of success was achieved. Moreover, the L-R-D strategy can help the student express their idea while learning English, in conclusion, the use of the L-R-D strategy can enhance students’ reading comprehension in reading English text.
