Abstract

Di tengah pandemi COVID-19, Mendiknas membuat skenario agar semua proses pembelajaran dilakukan di rumah. Mahasiswa kelas Seminar on ELT D melakukan proses E-learning di tengah semester dan membuat semua program terasa seperti baru bagi mereka. Para siswa harus mengatur dan mengembangkan ide-ide mereka melalui Google Documents dan melakukan konsultasi online untuk pertama kalinya melalui teks saja. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi peserta didik EFL terhadap Google Docs di kelas menulis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei dengan pendekatan kuantitatif untuk mengumpulkan data. Peneliti menggunakan kuesioner yang terdiri dari 22 item sebagai instrumen penelitian ini. Terdapat 24 responden mahasiswa kelas Seminar on ELT D angkatan 2017 Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Brawijaya. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan SPSS ver. 25.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa memiliki persepsi positif terhadap penggunaan Google Docs di kelas menulis. Dengan skor rata-rata 33,3%, ini membantu peserta didik mengatur ide-ide mereka dengan mudah dan 62,5% pelajar mampu mengembangkan ide-ide mereka melalui Google Documents. Karena konsultasi dilakukan melalui teks, 37,5% siswa memilih tidak setuju untuk berkonsultasi melalui Google Documents daripada tatap muka. Google Documents dapat membantu siswa sebagai alat alternatif dalam lingkungan penulisan. Dosen dapat melakukan konsultasi tatap muka atau menggunakan synchronous learning, misalnya menggunakan video conference untuk membantu mahasiswa lebih memahami untuk mengembangkan dan mengorganisasikan ide-idenya.

English Abstract

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the minister of education made a scenario that all learning processes be done at home. Seminar on ELTD D students do the E- learning process in the middle of the semester and make all the programs feellike a new one for them. The students should organize and develop their ideas through Google Docs and have an online consultation for the first time by text only. This study aimed to find out EFL learners’ perception toward Google Docs in writing class. This study used a survey method with a quantitative approach to collect the data. The researcher used a questionnaire that consists of 22 items as an instrument of this study. There were 24 respondents from Seminar on ELT D students batch 2017 of English Language Education Study Program, Universitas Brawijaya. In analyzing the data, the researcher used SPSS ver. 25.0. The result of the study showed that the students have positive perception towards the use of Google Docs in writing class. With a mean score of 33.3%, it helps learners organize their ideas easily and 62,5%learners were able to develop their ideas through Google Docs. Since the consultation done by text, 37.5% of students chose disagree to have a consultation through Google Docs rather than face to face. Google Docs canbe helpful to students as an alternative tool in writing environment. The lecturer can do the consultation face to face or use the synchronous learning, forexample using video conferences to help students more understand to develop and organize their ideas
