Abstract
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi efek penambahan fitobiotik dalam pakan sebagai alternatif pengganti antibiotic growth promoters (AGP) terhadap penampilan produksi, karakteristik usus, dan kadar kolesterol daging. Materi yang digunakan adalah 168 ekor ayam pedaging Strain Cobb umur 1 hari, antibiotik (Zinc Bacitracin), dan fitobiotik ekstrak daun sirih merah. Penelitian ini terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 6 kali ulangan. Perlakuan dilakukan dengan cara menambahkan fitobiotik dalam pakan dengan berbagai level yang berbeda, terdiri dari P0: 0%, P1: 0,5% ekstrak daun sirih merah, P2: 1% ekstrak daun sirih merah, P3: 1,5% ekstrak daun sirih merah. Variabel yang diamati meliputi penampilan produksi, karakteristik usus (pH digesta, jumlah vili, tinggi vili, luas permukaan vili, dan kedalaman crypt), dan kadar kolesterol daging. Data dianalisis menggunakan Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap, dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan jika terdapat pengaruh yang berbeda nyata. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa perlakuan berpengaruh sangat nyata (P<0,01) terhadap Income Over Feed Cost, dan total kolesterol daging. Perlakuan memberikan pengaruh yang tidak nyata (P>0,05) terhadap konsumsi pakan, pertambahan bobot badan, konversi pakan, dan karakteristik usus halus. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penambahan fitobiotik hingga level 0,5% memberikan hasil terbaik untuk menurunkan kadar kolesterol daging.
English Abstract
This research was carried out to evaluate effect of addition of phytobiotic in broiler feed as alternative of antibiotic growth promoter on production performance, intestinal characteristic and meat cholesterol. Materials used were 168 DOC broilers of Cobb strain, antibiotic (Zinc Bacitracin), and phytobiotic of red betle leaf extract. This research had 4 treatments and 6 replications. The treatments were different due to level of red betle used, consisted of P0: 0%, P1: 0.5% of red betle leaf extract, P2: 1% of red betle leaf extract, P3: 1.5% of red betle leaf extract. Variables measured were production performance, intestinal characteristic (pH of digesta, vili number, vili height, surface area of vili, and crypt depth), and meat cholesterol. Data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) of Completely Randomized Design, it would be continued by Duncan Multiple Range Test if significant effect existed. Results showed that treatment significantly influenced (P<0.01) on Income Over Feed Cost, and total meat cholesterol. However, it did not significantly influence (P>0.05) feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, and small intestinal characteristics. It could be concluded that addition of phytobiotic no more than 0.5% could perform the best result based on broiler meat cholesterol.
