Listening is a fundamental skill in mastering English. When students listen to English words, the proper sound of the word itself is needed. Without listening to the proper sound of a word, students will struggle in speaking the language fluently. Thus, the researcher suggested listening comprehension might have correlation with fluency in speaking. This correlational research aim was investigating the correlation between listening comprehension and fluency in speaking of the students. The researcher used the students’ listening comprehension score and the speaking test as the instruments. The listening score was taken from the English teacher based on students’ daily listening comprehension program while the speaking test consisted of 15 questions that were tested to 70 students from 10th grade of SMAN 3 Malang. The result was calculated by using SPSS v.21. The findings were all of the alternative hypotheses were accepted and null hypotheses were rejected. The data shown that the students’ listening comprehension correlated with their fluency in speaking which r value was higher than rtable (0.585>0.2542). By df 68 at the significance level 5%, to was higher than ttable (5.35> 2.0017). Based on the findings, it was found the correlation between listening comprehension and fluency in speaking. Therefore, it was suggested for the English teachers to concern more of the students’ fluency in speaking activities while for the future researchers were expected to investigate other issue in listening and speaking skill.
