Abstract

Menulis adalah salah satu keterampilan paling produktif bagi siswa.Banyak yang berpikir menulis adalah keterampilan yang paling sulit untuk dikuasai.Para peneliti menemukan beberapa masalah yang dihadapi oleh siswa di X-RPA selama praktik mengajar yang dilakukan di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan PGRI 3.Siswa memiliki kekurangan kosakata sehingga mereka tidak dapat mengembangkan ide-ide mereka menjadi paragraf atau kalimat.Siswa juga masih memiliki kesalahan tata bahasa, sehingga mereka tidak dapat menghasilkan tulisan yang baik.Berdasarkan masalah siswa, peneliti mengusulkan strategi untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis mereka dengan menerapkan jalan galeri. Penelitian ini menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas sebagai desain penelitian yang diadopsi dari Kember (2000).Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam satu siklus tiga pertemuan. Siklus lima langkah seperti studi pendahuluan, perencanaan, implementasi, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Untuk mengumpulkan data para peneliti menggunakan lima instrumen yang terdiri dari panduan wawancara, tes menulis,observasi, kuesioner siswa, dan catatan lapangan. Kriteria guru dan peneliti ditentukan oleh guru bahasa Inggris.Kriteria keberhasilan tercapai jika 75 mendapat skor 75 di atas KMM. Implementasi galeri jalan dalam mengajar menulis meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa.Itu bisa dilihat dari hasil tes tulis siswa. Skor rata-rata adalah (81, 4) dan pada pertemuan kedua skor rata-rata siswa (85,4), skor rata-rata adalah (skor rata-rata adalah (89,12). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa galeri dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa Disarankan kepada guru bahasa Inggris untuk menggunakan galeri untuk berjalan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa.

English Abstract

Writing is one of the productive skills need to be learned by the language learners. Many leaners think that writing is the most difficult skill to be mastered. In line with that, the researcher found some problems faced by the students in X-RPA during teaching practice conducted in SMK PGRI 3. Students have lack of vocabulary therefore they cannot develop their ideas into paragraph or sentence. Students also still have grammatical errors, so they cannot produce a good writing. Based on the students’ problem, the researcher proposed a strategy to improve their writing skill by implementing gallery walk. This study used Classroom Action Research as the research design adopted from Kember (2000). This research was conducted in one cycle which consisted of three meetings. The cycle had five steps such as preliminary study, planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. To collect the data the researcher used five instruments consisting interview guide, writing test, observation checklist, student’s questioner, and field notes. The criteria of success were determined by the English teacher and researcher. The criteria of success had reached if 75% of students got score 75 above KMM. The implementation of gallery walk in teaching writing improved student’s writing skill. It can be seen from the result of students ’writing test. In the first meeting the student’s average score was (81, 4) and in the second meeting students’ average score was (85, 4) while in the third meeting the students’ average score was (89,12). It can be concluded that gallery walk can improve student’s writing skill It suggested to the English teacher to use gallery walk to improve student’s writing skill.
