Abstract
Membaca telah dianggap sebagai salah satu komponen penting dari ELT untuk mengembangkan penguasaan bahasa. Namun, pengajaran dan pembelajaran membaca sering disampaikan dengan cara konvensional. Itu membuat siswa mudah bosan. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan multimedia pembelajaran yang sesuai bernama multimedia GSmartive (Getting Smart in Narrative). Multimedia ini menyajikan komponen yang menarik, bahan pembelajaran, dan menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis game. GSmartive digunakan sebagai alat bantu untuk belajar membaca terutama teks naratif untuk siswa kelas X Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan. Desain penelitian adalah model penelitian pengembangan yang oleh Borg dan Gall (2003). Langkah-langkahnya adalah analisis kebutuhan, pengembangan produk, validasi ahli, revisi pertama, uji coba produk, revisi akhir, dan produk akhir. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah siswa X KJB di SMK PGRI 3 Malang. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner analisis kebutuhan, lembar validasi, dan kuesioner untuk uji coba produk. Data dianalisis secara kuantitatif. Berdasrkan pada hasil analisis kebutuhan dan analisis dokumen, G-Smartive menyajikan tiga materi utama yaitu kategori pemahaman bacaan, fitur bahasa, dan kosa kata. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa G-Smartive sesuai dan layak digunakan untuk siswa kelas sepuluh, tetapi perlu beberapa revisi. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua aspek berada dalam kategori baik. Produk ini juga mendapat respon positif dari para siswa. G-Smartive memberikan kontribusi dalam mendukung pembelajaran bahasa, meningkatkan kemahiran bahasa siswa, dan membuat proses akuisisi lebih mudah, dan lebih menarik.
English Abstract
Reading has been considered as one of important components of ELT to develop language mastery. However, teaching and learning of reading is often delivered in a conventional way. It makes students easily bored. For solving those problems, this study aims to develop the appropriate learning multimedia named GSmartive (Getting Smart in Narrative) multimedia. It provides interesting components, learning materials, and applies game-based learning. It uses as aid to learn reading especially narrative text for tenth graders of Vocational High School. The research design was developmental research model purposed by Borg and Gall (2003). The steps were need analysis, product development, expert validation, first revision, product try-out, final revision, and final product. The participant of this study was X KJB students in SMK PGRI 3 Malang. The instruments used were need analysis questionnaire, validation sheet, and questionnaire for product try-out. The data was analysed quantitatively. Regarding the result of need analysis and document analysis, G-Smartive presented three main materials which were reading comprehension, language feature, and vocabulary category. The result of validation showed that G-Smartive was suitable and appropriate to use for tenth grade students, but it needed some revision. The research finding showed that all the aspects were in good category. The product also got the positive response from the students. G-Smartive gave contributions in supporting language learning, increasing the students’ language proficiency, and making the process of acquisition easier, and more interesting.
