Abstract
Polypropylene (PP) adalah salah satu jenis plastik yang menyumbang angka limbah tertinggi. Maka dari itu sudah dicanangkan pengolahan limbah supaya dapat dikonversi menjadi sumber energi mengingat kebutuhan akan energi juga meningkat dari tahun ke tahun. Penelitian ini bertujuan guna melihat pengaruh debit dan arah aliran air kondensor tipe double tube terhadap minyak hasil pirolisis plastik PP baik dari segi volume dan sifat fisik. Metode yang digunakan ialah true experimental. Plastik PP dengan massa 250 gram dan besar 3 cm x 3 cm akan dipirolisis dengan waktu 90 menit, variasi debit 1 liter/menit, 4 liter/menit, dan 7 liter/menit dan arah aliran parallel dan counter. Penelitian ini mendapat hubungan antara debit dan arah aliran air pada kondensor dalam proses pirolisis plastik PP. Semakin besar debit pada setiap arah aliran parallel dan counter maka volume minyak hasil yang didapat semakin banyak juga. Namun pada sifat fisik seperti massa jenis, viskositas, dan nilai kalor, tidak dipengaruhi oleh debit dan arah aliran air pendinginan di kondensor tipe double tube. Pirolisis plastik PP dengan pendinginan air tipe double tube menghasilkan minyak hasil dengan sifat fisik yang mendekati bahan bakar minyak komersil yaitu bensin, minyak tanah, dan solar. Didapat bahwa debit 7 liter/menit dan arah aliran counter flow air pendinginan pada kondensor optimal pada pirolisis plastik PP.
English Abstract
Polypropylene is one of the most plastic that take part in waste distribution. Number of energies used is increas every year. Because of that, waste treatment is planned for converting this waste to energy sources. The purpose of this experiment is to find effect of volumetric flow rate and flow direction of water cooled double tube condenser on volume and physical properties of PP plastic pyrolysis tar product. True experimental methods are used. 250 grams plastic PP with 3 cm x 3 cm area were heated for 90 minutes with absence of oxygen, it was cooled with double tube condenser at 1 liter/minute, 4 liter/minutes, and 7 liter/minutes with co-current and counter water flow. This experimental got an effect of volumetric flow rate and flow direction of water cooled double tube condenser on PP plastic pyrolysis. The increase of the volumetric flow rate at co-current and counter water flow, more volume of the liquid product. But, physical properties like density, viscosity, and caloric value, isn’t affected by volumetric flow rate and flow direction of water cooled double tube condenser. Tar product of plastic PP pyrolysis with water cooled double tube condenser have physical properties similarity with commercial fuel like gasoline, kerosene, and diesel. Obtain that the optimum PP plastic pyrolysis water cooled double tube condenser volumetric flow rate is 7 liter/minutes and optimum flow direction is counter water flow.
