Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara adiksi game online dan keterampilan sosial pada remaja. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif korelasional dengan jumlah subyek penelitan sebanyak 330 orang remaja dari seluruh Indonesia. Adiksi game online diukur dengan skala internet gaming disorder scale. Keterampilan sosial diukur dengan skala The Matson Evaluation of Social Skill With Youngster (MESSY). Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik korelasi pearson product moment. Hasil analisis tersebut menunjukkan bahwa pearson correlation r=-0.295 (p < 0.05) artinya terdapat korelasi negatif yang signifikan antara adiksi game online terhadap keterampilan sosial pada remaja, yang berarti semakin tinggi adiksi game online pada remaja, maka akan semakin rendah keterampilan sosial remaja tersebut dan begitu juga sebaliknya.

English Abstract

This study aims to know whether a relationship between online game addiction and social skill in adolescent. The study involved 330 adolescents in all-across Indonesia with quantitative-correlational study. Online game addiction is measured by Internet Gaming Disorder Scale. Social skill measured by The Matson Evaluation of Social Skill With Youngster (MESSY) scale. The data is analized with simple correlation using Pearson’s Product Moment. The result shows that online game addiction and social skill pearson correlation r=-0.295 (p <0.05) has a significantly negative correlation between online game addiction to social skills in adolescents, which means that the higher online game addiction in adolescents, the lower social skills of the adolescent and vice versa.
