Abstract
The study aimed to measure the correlation between fear of missing out and selfperception of adolescent social acceptance. The research subjects were 155 adolescents from 13 to 18 years old who selected by accidental sampling. Quantitative research methods was used to applied. The research instrument used was the social competence (social acceptance) scale which is subscale of the Self-Perception Profile for Adolescents: Manual & Questionnare developed by Harter and the fear of missing out scale from Przybylski. Correlation analysis was using pearson product moment from SPSS 21.00. The results showed that there is a negative and significant correlation between fear of missing out and self-perception of adolescents social acceptance, which means the higher adolescent has fear of missing out, they have lower self-perception of social acceptance and vice versa.
English Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji hubungan antara fear of missing out dan persepsi diri atas penerimaan sosial remaja. Subjek penelitian sejumlah 155 remaja berusia 13 hingga 18 tahun yang dipilih secara accidental sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif korelasional. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah subskala social competence (social acceptance) dari Self-Perception Profile for Adolescents: Manual & Questionnare yang dikembangkan oleh Harter dan skala fear of missing out dari Przybylski. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik uji korelasi pearson product moment dari SPSS 21.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan negatif dan signifikan antara fear of missing out dan persepsi diri atas penerimaan sosial remaja, yang berarti semakin tinggi fear of missing out maka semakin rendah persepsi diri atas penerimaan sosial remaja, demikian pula sebaliknya
