Abstract

Label informasi gizi adalah informasi kandungan nilai gizi yang wajib dituliskan pada makanan kemasan. Pencantuman label informasi gizi memudahkan konsumen dalam memilih makanan kemasan yang tepat sesuai kebutuhan gizi. Pengetahuan cara membaca label informasi gizi sangat diperlukan konsumen karena akan mempengaruhi perilaku pemilihan makanan kemasan yang dikonsumsinya sehingga dapat mempengaruhi status gizi yang dimiliki. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan pengetahuan cara membaca label informasi gizi mahasiswa status gizi obesitas dan normal serta mengetahui hubungan pengetahuan cara membaca label informasi gizi terhadap perilaku pemilihan makanan kemasan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observational analitik dengan pendekatan cross-sectional dengan teknik purposive sampling. Sampel dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok status gizi obesitas (n=33) dan kelompok status gizi normal (n=33). Peneliti menggunakan instrumen kuesioner yang telah divalidasi sebelumnya. Hasil uji beda pengetahuan cara membaca label informasi gizi dan perilaku pemilihan makanan kemasan dengan Mann Whitney didapatkan nilai berturut-turut p=0.004 dan p=0.000 yang artinya terdapat perbedaan pengetahuan cara membaca label informasi gizi dan perbedaan perilaku pemilihan makanan antara mahasiswa status gizi obesitas dan normal. Hubungan pengetahuan cara membaca label informasi gizi dengan perilaku pemilihan makanan kemasan pada mahasiswa berstatus gizi obesitas dan normal dianalisis menggunakan uji Spearman didapatkan nilai bertutut-turut p=0.004 dan p=0.007 sehingga disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan pengetahuan cara membaca label informasi gizi dengan perilaku pemilihan makanan pada kedua kelompok status gizi.

English Abstract

Nutrition facts is an essential information which must be written on the packaged food. The inclusion of nutrition facts makes it easy for consumers to choose the right packaged foods according to their nutritional needs. The knowledge of nutrition facts is important for consumers since it affects the behaviour of the consumers towards the packaged food itself. The people’s behaviour on consuming the packaged food based on their knowledge of nutrition facts will affect the nutritional status. Therefore, this research was aimed to know the differences between the knowledge of nutrition facts on people with normal status and people with obesity status and also to know the correlation between their knowledge of nutrition facts with their behaviour of consuming packaged food. This study was an survey analytic study that using cross-sectional design. The sample was divided into two groups, they were obesity status group (n=33) and normal status group (n=33). The researchers used questionnaire that had been validated before. The results of the different test of knowledge how to read nutrition facts and behavior of selection packaged food with Mann Whitney got the value of consecutive p=0.004 and p=0.000 which means there is difference of behavior of selection packaged food in student of obesity and normal. Relation of knowledge how to read nutrition information label with food packaging selection behavior on student of obesity and normal nutrient status analyzed by using Spearman test got value p = 0.004 and p = 0.007 so concluded that there is correlation of knowledge how to read label nutrition information with behavior of food selection in both groups of nutritional status.
