Abstract

Universitas Brawijaya membuka program inklusif sejak tahun 2012. Program ini merupakan kolaborasi antara Universitas Brawijaya dan PSLD (Pusat Studi dan Layanan Disabilitas). Kemudian dalam pembukaan pertamanya, ada delapan belas siswa yang diterima masuk dan dua diantaranya merupakan siswa dengan gangguan pengelihatan (kebutaan). Salah satu siswa tersebut kehilangan pengelihatanya saat masih kanak – kanak sedangkan yang satnya kehilangan pengelihatan saat masih duduk di bangku SMA. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti mengobservasi seorang siswa dengan gangguan pengelihatan yang kehilangan pengelihatan pada saat kanak – kanak. Partisipan ini terbiasa dengan suasana sekolah eksklusif dimana seluruh siswa difabel bersekolah. Penelitian ini dilakukan semasa kuliah partisipan penelitian. Menggunakan desain narrative, peneliti mengobservasi selama tiga setengah tahun untuk mengumpulkan data yang dibutuhkan. Penelitian ini meneliti tentang usaha partisipan untuk membentuk strategi belajar yang efektif dan cocok untuk lingkungan inklusif dan juga termasuk akan kesulitan dan percobaan yang dialaminya demi menemukan strategi belajar yang tepat. Selain observasi, wawancara juga dilakukan ke seorang volunteer yang telah menemani partisipan selama tiga setengah tahun juga. Kemudian peneliti mewawancara partisipan. Kemudian, dari semua data yang berhasil dikumpulkan; observasi, catatan, dan wawancara, peneliti menceritakan semuanya kedalam penelitian. Melalui observasi berdasarkan kategori indirect and direct strategies, partisipan penelitian ini menggunakan kedua kategori secara rata kecuali kategori yang menggunakan media visual atau membutuhkan pengelihatan. Kemudian, dia juga mengatakan bahwa strategi pembelajaranya teregulasi karena motivasi. Dia juga menambahkan bahwa dia melakukan beberapa eksperimen dalam proses pembentukan strategi belajarnya sampai dia menemukan strategi yang cocok dan sesuai. Partisipan penelitian ini fokus lebih di dalam kelas dengan menghindari percakapan. Volunteer yang diwawancarai juga mengiyakan hal tersebut. Dia menambahkan informasi tentang penggunaan teknologi bantuan yang berperan penting dalam pembentukan strategi belajar partisipan studi. Kedua partisipan ini juga mengatakan tentang peran penting volunteer ataupun teman dalam pembentukan strategi belaja. Hasil dari observasi dan wawancara menunjukkan bahwa partisipan studi meregulasi strategi pembelajaranya melalui berbagai eksperimen dan kesalahan pada awalnya, kemudian pada akhirnya berhasil menemukan strategi yang sesuai dengan keadaan dan kondisinya.

English Abstract

Universitas Brawijaya has opened an inclusive program since 2012. This program is collaboration between Universitas Brawijaya and PSLD (Pusat Studi dan Layanan Disabilitas). Thus by its very first opening, there were approximately 18 students accepted and two of them was visual impairment students. One of visual impairment students lost her sight at a very young age while the other one lost it during her high-school era. In this research, the researcher observed the first one mentioned who used to go to exclusive school where all of students with different disabilities attend to. This research was conducted during her college years. Using narrative research design, the researcher observed for three and half years in order to collect the stories and data needed. It concerned about her effort in order to regulate effective and proper learning strategies in inclusive environment. It also consists of her struggle and trials and errors in her time of figuring fixed learning strategies. Besides observation, interview also conducted in order to give validation to the data collected. The interview was conducted to a volunteer who had accompanied the study participant for three and half years also. It was also done to the study participant. Then, from all of those data collected; observation, notes, and interviews, the researcher narrated the stories into a research. From observation based with direct and indirect strategies categories, the study participant used both categories equally except the ones that require using visual media or sighting objects. Then for more detail on her learning strategies, she said in interview that she develop her learning strategy by being motivated. She also added that she experimented on her learning strategies until she found suitable and proper learning strategies. She focused more on classes by avoiding talking within classes. The volunteer also confirmed the statement. She also added some information regarding the use of assistive technology that played big part for study participant’s learning strategies. Both of the participants also said about the role of a volunteer or peers played big part in the learning strategies development since social environment also one of the categories of indirect strategies. Results from observation and interviews that based on self-regulated learning strategies attributes concluded that the study participant self-regulated her learning strategies through trials and errors at the beginning, and then finally found fixated learning strategies that suitable for her.
