Abstract

Artikel berita di media massa telah menjadi bagian dari masyarakat dalam memberikan informasi mengenai hal-hal yang sedang terjadi saat ini. Komunikasi yang efektif di media massa diharapkan mampu memberikan pemahaman yang baik sehingga informasi dapat diterima oleh pembaca. Dalam memahami informasi, penting untuk mengetahui makna dari struktur bahasanya tentang bagaimana konteks memproses informasi tersebut. Hal ini dapat dianalisis menggunakan theory Sytemic Functional Linguistic oleh Halliday mengenai klausa kompleks. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana artikel ini secara logis terhubung dengan satu sama lain melalui klausa komplek dalam teori Systemic Functional Linguistic. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan tujuan untuk menganalisa dan mengambil kesimpulan dari sumber data, yang berfokus pada analisis klausa kompleks dalam rangka untuk menjelaskan bagaimana artikel ini secara logis terhubung. Data penelitian ini diambil dari situs web berita resmi Tempo. Penelitian menunjukkan adanya kompleksitas dalam artikel ber judul ‘It’s Time, Setya…’ Dalam kaitannya dengan taxis, artikel ini secara logis terhubung melalui paratxis dan hypotaxis. Kalimat hypotaxis adalah kalimat yang paling sering digunakan dalam artikel. Dengan kata lain, penulis artikel sering menggunakan subordinate untuk mengekspresikan urutan ide. Sementara, dalam kaitannya dengan hubungan logico-semantic, penulis cenderung menggunakan peningkatan ekpansi yang berarti penulis artikel banyak menggunakan relasi keadaan untuk menghubungkan makna satu klausa dengan klausa lainnya.

English Abstract

News articles on mass media have become a part in giving people information about what is happening around the world. Effective communication on mass media is expected to be able in giving good understanding and succeed the information exchanges to the readers. In order to understand the information, it is important to know the meaning through its structures of how the context processes the information. It can be analyzed by using Halliday’s Systemic Functional Linguistic theory of clause complex. The aim of this research is to discover how the article is logically connected through clause complex using Systemic Functional Linguistic. This research uses qualitative approach. The purpose is to analyze and drawing conclusion the data which is focused on the clause complex analysis in order to explain how the text is logically connected. The data were taken from the official news website of Tempo. The result showed that there is complexity that found in the article entitled ‘It’s Time, Setya...’ In term of taxis, the article is logically connected through both parataxis and hypotaxis. The hypotactic structures are mainly used in the article. In other words, the author mostly used subordinate to express a sequence of idea. While, in term of logico-semantic relation the author tends to use expansion of enhancement which means he mostly used circumstance of relation to connect the meaning of one clause to another clause.
