Abstract

Porositas merupakan salah satu cacat yang sering ditemui pada produk hasil pengecoran dengan bahan baku aluminium paduan. Keberadaan porositas dipengaruhi juga oleh densitas serta kekerasan dari produk cor, hal ini dapat mempengaruhi kualitas dari produk itu sendiri. Pengujian piknometri dan hardness test merupakan salah satu cara untuk mengetahui ketiga hal tersebut. Data yang didapatkan adalah berat benda di air, berat benda di udara, dan nilai kekerasan. Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi ketiga hal tersebut adalah solidifikasi dari logam cair di dalam cetakan, yang dapat dikontrol dengan melakukan preheating pada cetakan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari prosentase berat material bekas velg (MV) dan material bekas piston (MP) Al-Si terhadap densitas, porositas dan kekerasan coran pulley. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan variasi prosentase berat velg dan piston Al-Si dengan cetakan berbahan baja sebesar MP 40% MV 60%, MP 50% MV 50% dan MP 60% MV 40% untuk pengecoran pulley. Pengambilan data porositas dan densitas dilakukan ketika spesimen sebelum dan sesudah finishing (proses permesinan) menggunakan pengujian piknometri pada tiga buah spesimen pada masing-masing variasi. Pengujian kekerasan menggunakan metode indentasi micro Vickers dengan pembebanan 200 gr dan waktu indentasi 10 detik. Hasil dari penelitian ini didapatkan bahwa nilai porositas rata-rata sebelum finishing (proses permesinan) pada prosentase berat MP 40% MV 60% sebesar 1.871%, MP 50% MV 50% sebesar 1.331%, dan MP 60% MV 40% sebesar 1.146 %. Sedangkan nilai porositas ratarata setelah finishing (proses permesinan) pada prosentase berat MP 40% MV 60% sebesar 1.431%, MP 50% MV 50% sebesar 1.098%, dan MP 60% MV 40% sebesar 1.081%. Nilai kekerasan akan semakin meningkat seiring bertambahnya prosentase piston. Nilai kekerasan pada prosentase berat MP 40% MV 60% sebesar 46.8 HV MP 50% MV 50% sebesar 53.633 HV, dan MP 60% MV 40% sebesar 68.267 HV.

English Abstract

Porosity is one of the defects that are often found in casting products with aluminum alloy raw materials. The presence of porosity is also influenced by the density and hardness of the cast product, this can affect the quality of the product itself. Pycnometric testing and hardness test is one way to find out these three things. The data obtained are the weight of objects in water, the weight of objects in the air, and the value of hardness. One of the factors that influence these three things is the solidification of the molten metal in the mold, which can be controlled by preheating the mold. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the weight percentage of the used alloy material (MV) and Al-Si piston (MP) used material on the density, porosity and hardness of pulley castings. This research was conducted with a variation of the weight percentage of Al-Si alloy wheels and pistons with steel molds of MP 40% MV 60%, MP 50% MV 50% and MP 60% MV 40% for pulley casting. Data on porosity and density were carried out when specimens before and after finishing (machining process) used picnometric testing on three specimens in each variation. Hardness testing uses the micro Vickers indentation method with 200 gr loading and 10 seconds indentation time. The results of this study found that the average porosity value before finishing (machining process) at the percentage of MP weight 40% MV 60% at 1.871%, MP 50% MV 50% at 1.331%, and MP 60% MV 40% at 1.146% . While the average porosity value after finishing (machining process) at the percentage of MP weight 40% MV 60% at 1.431%, MP 50% MV 50% at 1,098%, and MP 60% MV 40% at 1,081%. The value of hardness will increase as the piston percentage increases. The hardness value at MP weight percentage 40% MV 60% is 46.8 HV MP 50% MV 50% is 53,633 HV, and MP 60% MV 40% is 68,267 HV.
