Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji dan membuktikan secara empiris peran lingkungan binis, budaya oganisasi dalam menghasilkan ketepatan strategi bisnis dan meningkatkan kinerja organisasi Bank Umum Syariah (BUS). Secara teoritis hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memperkaya dan melengkapi khasanah ilmu pengetahuan dibidang manajemen strategik, sehingga dapat bermanfaat bagi para akademisi dan praktisi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksplanatif yang menguji dan menjelaskan variabel-variabel penelitian secara cross-sectional . Pendekatan kuantitatif digunakan sebagai metode analisis utama yang didukung dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh kantor cabang BUS yang berada di Jawa Timur, yaitu sebanyak 34 kantor cabang. Keseluruhan kantor cabang BUS di Jawa Timur dijadikan sampel, dengan demikian penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian sensus dan dianalisis menggunakan Partial Least Square (PLS) dengan software SmartPLS. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Lingkungan Bisnis tidak memberikan dampak yang berarti terhadap perbaikan kinerja organisasi secara langsung, melainkan memperkuat peningkatkan kinerja organisasi secara tidak langsung melalui strategi bisnis sebagai variabel mediasi. (2) Lingkungan bisnis yang dimediasi oleh budaya organisasi mendukung terhadap perbaikan strategi bisnis. (3) Lingkungan bisnis berperanan langsung terhadap penguatan budaya organisasi dan perbaikan strategi bisnis, tetapi secara tidak langsung melalui budaya organisasi tidak mendorong terjadinya peningkatan kinerja organisasi. (4) Budaya organisasi yang menguat mempunyai peranan penting terhadap perbaikan strategi bisnis, tetapi secara langsung budaya organisasi kurang memiliki dampak dalam perbaikan kinerja organisasi (5) Pemahaman budaya organisasi yang menguat, mengakibatkan peningkatan kinerja organisasi secara tidak langsung melalui strategi bisnis sebagai variabel mediasi. (6) Strategi bisnis yang tepat mengakibatkan peningkatan kinerja organisasi.
English Abstract
The aims of this study are to examine and prove empirically the role of business environment, organizational culture in generating the right business strategy and improving the organizational performance of Islamic Commercial Banks (Bank Umum Syariah/BUS). Theoretically, the results of the study are expected to enrich and complete the knowledge in the field of strategic management, so that it can be useful for the academic people and practitioners. This research is an explanative study which examines and explains the research variables in cross-sectional manner. Quantitative approach was used as the main analytical method and supported by qualitative approach. The population of the study was all BUS branch offices located in East Java, as many as 34 branch offices. All BUS branch offices in East Java were used as sample; thus, this study is a census study and analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS) with SmartPLS software . The results of the study indicate that: (1) The business environment does not provide a significant impact on improving organizational performance directly, but it strengthens the organizational performance indirectly through a business strategy as mediating variable. (2) Business environment mediated by organizational culture supports the improvement of business strategy. (3) Business environment plays a direct role in strengthening organizational culture and improving business strategy, but has an indirect role in motivating organizational performance improvement through organizational culture. (4) A strong organizational culture has an important role to improve business strategy, but organizational culture does not have a direct impact in improving the organizational performance. (5) The understanding of organizational culture which is strengthened results in improved organizational performance indirectly through a business strategy as a mediating variable. (6) The right business strategy will improve the organizational performance.
