Abstract

English Abstract

The magnetic field anomaly study has been carried out in Bittuang area, Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi for 49 days with (15x15)km2 in wide. This study is conducted to understand the spread of magnetic field anomaly and the geothermal zone also under subsurface geology structure. The total magnetic field data was measured using Proton Precession Magnetometer (PPM). In this research, data processing is started with IGRF (International Geomagnetics Reference Field) correction and followed by diurnal variation correction to get the total magnetic field anomaly on topography. The total magnetic field anomaly on topography was reduced to a horizontal plane at elevation 1400 m above sea level, then separated into the regional and local anomaly by performing the upward continuation. Afterwards, Magnetic field anomaly was transformed to pseudogravitation and horizontal gradient to understand and interprete the area of anomaly. The result of qualitative interpretation show that the value of residual field variation was divide into negative magnetic anomaly and positive magnetic anomaly. Geotherm potential area was interpreted in low magnetic anomaly area or negative which is outstretched from the northwest to southeast and south area. Based on the rock susceptibility value, the quantitative interpretation obtained the subsurface geology structure.
