Abstract
Wayfinding merupakan suatu kegiatan yang berhubungan dengan orientasi dan pergerakan dari suatu tempat asal menuju ke tempat tujuan. Manfaat wayfinding dalam kawasan pendidikan, yaitu sebagai sarana yang membantu mengarahkan seseorang ke tempat tujuan sehingga dapat mengurangi ketersesatan dan membantu pengguna dalam mengingat ruang dan jalan melalui peran objek wayfinding. Sejumlah 48% mahasiswa baru Universitas Brawijaya tahun 2015 menyatakan bahwa pernah tersesat saat memasuki kampus. Hal ini menunjukkan perlu adanya konsep wayfinding kepada seseorang yang masih asing dengan wilayah sekitar, seperti mahasiswa baru. Berbagai aktivitas yang dilakukan dari kegiatan ilmiah maupun non ilmiah semakin mempengaruhi perkembangan dan pembangunan di Universitas Brawijaya. Beragam pembangunan dilakukan, seperti pelebaran jalan, penambahan fasilitas, penambahan infrastruktur, dan kegiatan pembangunan lainnya mempengaruhi wayfinding pengguna dalam menemukan tujuannya di Universitas Brawijaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari objek-objek yang berpotensi dari pendapat responden serta konfigurasi ruang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, yakni analisis mental map sebagai penentuan hirarki objek wayfinding berdasarkan pengguna dan space syntax (visual graph analysis) sebagai penentuan hirarki berdasarkan konfigurasi ruang. Dalam penelitian ini juga melibatkan elemen lain dalam fungsinya sebagai pendukung objek wayfinding, yakni other sensory information dan signage system. Hasil overlay hirarki dari kedua analisis menunjukkan ada beberapa objek wayfinding yang berpotensi dalam proses wayfinding di kampus Universitas Brawijaya. Konsep wayfinding menghasilkan perlakuan yang berbeda dari objek yang terpilih berdasarkan klasifikasi, baik dalam mempertahankan fungsi objek dalam ruang maupun mengembangkan potensi objek wayfinding.
English Abstract
Wayfinding is an activity related to the orientation and motion from first point to point of destination. Benefits of wayfinding in the area of education, namely as a means of helping direct a person to a destination so as to reduce the lostness and assist users in remembering the way through the role of space and objects wayfinding. Around 48% of new students of University of Brawijaya (UB) 2015 that ever lost when entering the campus. This shows the need for wayfinding concept to someone who was unfamiliar with the surrounding area as freshmen. Various activities were carried out from scientific and non-scientific activities increasingly affect the development in UB. Various construction, as increase dimention of the road, addition of facilities dan infrastructures, and other development activities affecting respondents’s wayfinding system in UB. The purpose of this research is to find objects that have the potential of opinions of respondents and spatial configurations. The method used in this study is mental map analysis to find objects hierarchy wayfinding determination based on the user and the space syntax (visual graph analysis) as a hierarchy based on the determination of the configuration space. In this study also involves other elements to support the main object of wayfinding, such as the other sensory informations and signage system. The overlay result say that hierarchy between both of analysis shows there are several objects which are potentially in wayfinding process on the campus of UB. The concept of wayfinding generate different treatment of the selected object based of wayfinding classification, both in maintaining the function of the object in space and develop the potential of the object wayfinding.
