Abstract
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing merupakan teknik penggabungan data paralel dari data serial berkecepatan tinggi dengan modulasi Phase Shift Keying atau Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) dengan dengan subcarrier yang overlapping untuk mengefisienkan lebar pita (bandwidth) saat ditransmisikan. Nilai frekuensi subcarrier ditentukan dengan menggunakan Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT). Subcarrier yang overlapping menyebabkan sistem OFDM sensitif terhadap offset yang timbul akibat perbedaan frekuensi osilator pengirim dan penerima. Hal ini menimbulkan Inter Carrier Interference (ICI) karena subcarrier yang berdekatan. Penelitian dilakukan dengan memodelkan sistem OFDM berbasis Telecommunication Instructional Modelling System (TIMS) untuk dianalisis pengaruh frequency offset (f) yang timbul terhadap performansi sistem. Performansi diukur dengan menganalisis perhitungan Bit Error Rate (BER) dan Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) pada kanal pertama OFDM. Dari penelitian ini diperoleh nilai BER sebesar 0,062 dan SNR sebesar 47,7594 dB saat frequency offset bernilai 0 % yang mana memiliki nilai BER terendah dan SNR tertinggi. Nilai BER meningkat pada frequency offset bernilai kurang atau lebih dari 0,1 % (f > 1 Hz). SNR terjadi penurunan saat frequency offset lebih dari 0,1 % (f > 1 Hz) akibat perubahan nilai daya noise. Perubahan SNR tidak mempengaruhi perubahan BER pada frequency offset yang sama. Sistem OFDM dapat optimal dengan frequency offset yang ditolerir kurang dari 0,1% (f < 1 Hz) karena mendekati nilai BER terendah dan SNR tertinggi.
English Abstract
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing is a method to combine parallel data from high speed serial data using Phase Shift Keying or Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) with overlapping subcarrier to aim efficient bandwidth when transmitted. Subcarrier frequency is determined using Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT). Due to overlapping subcarrier makes OFDM system sensitive against frequency offset by local oscillator. Thus Inter Carrier Interference (ICI) occurs cause of close subcarrier. Experiment be done using Telecommunication Instructional Modelling System (TIMS) to analyze cause of frequency offset (f) towards OFDM performance system. Performance measured by Bit Error Rate (BER) and Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) on first channel of OFDM. From this experiment, when frequency offset is 0 % BER was equal to 0.062 and SNR was equal to 47.7594 dB which these are the lowest BER and highest SNR. BER was increasing when the offset less or more than 0.1 % (f > 1 Hz). SNR was decreasing when the offset more than 0.1 % (f > 1 Hz) due to decreasing noise power. BER was not changed by SNR on same frequency offset. OFDM system can be optimal when tolerable offset less than 0.1 % (f < 1 Hz) due it close to the lowest BER and highest SNR.
