Abstract
Resin akrilik self cured telah digunakan dalam bidang kedokteran gigi sebagai bahan pembuatan gigi tiruan dan peranti ortodonti. Resin akrilik self cured memiliki kandungan monomer residu yang tinggi sehingga berdampak pada lemahnya kekerasan permukaan. Kekerasan permukaan adalah banyaknya energi deformasi elastik atau plastis yang diperlukan untuk mematahkan suatu bahan dan merupakan ukuran dari ketahanan permukaan. Polimerisasi resin akrilik self cured dalam suhu tertentu merupakan salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan kekerasan permukaan resin akrilik self cured. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh suhu polimerisasi terhadap kekerasan permukaan resin akrilik self cured. Studi eksperimental menggunakan resin akrilik self cured berukuran (65 x 10 x 2,5) mm sebanyak 20 resin yang terbagi dalam 4 kelompok perlakuan. Kelompok 1 sampel resin akrilik dengan suhu polimerisasi 30o C, kelompok 2 sampel resin akrilik dengan suhu polimerisasi 40o C, kelompok 3 sampel resin akrilik dengan suhu polimerisasi 50o C, kelompok 4 sampel resin akrilik dengan polimerisasi pada suhu ruangan. Kekerasan permukaan resin akrilik self cured diukur menggunakan alat Digital Micro Hardness Tester. Hasil perhitungan menggunakan ANOVA menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh yang bermakna (0,002<0,05) suhu polimerisasi terhadap kekerasan permukaan resin akrilik self cured. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah suhu polimerisasi berpengaruh terhadap kekerasan permukaan resin akrilik self cured dan suhu polimerisasi optimal adalah suhu 40oC.
English Abstract
Self cured acrylic resin had been used in dentistry as material to make dentures and orthodontic appliances. Self cured acrylic resin had high content of residual monomer, thus resulting in decreased surface hardness. Surface hardness was a content of energy required to create elastic or plastic deformation. It’s used to measure the break resistance of a surface maerial. Increase surface hardness could be achieved by polymerizing self cured acrylic resin in certain temperatures. This study was aimed to determine the effect of polymerization temperature to surface hardness of self cured acrylic resin. This experimental used 20 samples of self cured acrylic resin with (65 x10 x 2.5) mm were divided into 4 groups. Group 1of acrylic resin was polymerized in temperature 30o C, group 2 of acrylic resin was polymerized in temperature 40° C, group 3 of acrylic resin was polymerized in temperature 50° C, and group 4 of acrylic resin was polymerized in room temperature. Surface hardness of self cured acrylic resin was measured using Digital Micro Hardness Tester. The result of statistical analysis using ANOVA showed that there were significant effect (0.002<0.05) of polymerization temperature tosurface hardness of self cured acrylic resin. The conclusion of this research was polymerization temperature had effect to surface hardness of self cured acrylic resin and the optimum polymerization temperature was 40oC.
