Abstract

Penderita Diabetes Melitus mengalami kondisi hiperglikemia yang dapat meningkatkan oksidatif stres dan Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) sehingga mengakibatkan komplikasi. Salah satu pengendalian glukosa darah adalah melalui asupan zat gizi makro dan mikro. Vitamin C sebagai zat gizi mikro dikenal sebagai antioksidan yang dapat menangkal ROS dan menurut beberapa penelitian memiliki pengaruh dalam pengendalian glukosa darah terutama Glukosa Darah Puasa (GDP). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan rata-rata asupan vitamin C terhadap kadar GDP pada penderita Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 di Kabupaten Lamongan, Jawa Timur. Metode yang digunakan adalah observasional dengan rancangan penelitian cross sectional pada pasien Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 usia 40-59 tahun di Kabupaten Lamongan pada bulan Mei sampai Desember 2015. Sebanyak 38 responden dipilih berdasarkan purposive sampling. Data asupan vitamin C didapatkan melalui wawancara Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionare (SQFFQ) dan data GDP didapatkan melalui tes pemeriksaan laboratorium. Analisis asupan vitamin C dalam penelitian ini menggunakan software Nutrisurvey 2007 dan analisis hubungan rata-rata asupan vitamin C terhadap kadar GDP menggunakan SPSS v16.0. Dari uji Pearson Correlation diperoleh hasil signifikansi p=0,532 sehingga disimpulkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan antara rata-rata asupan vitamin C terhadap kadar GDP karena banyak faktor yang mepengaruhi penyerapan tubuh terhadap vitamin C. Disarankan untuk penelitian selanjutnya perlu diteliti pula faktor yang mempengaruhi kadar vitamin C dalam tubuh dan kadar GDP.

English Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus Patients with hyperglycemia may increase the oxidative stress and Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) and it can lead to complications. One of factor that affect blood glucose control is the intake of macro and micro nutrients. Vitamin C as micronutrients known as antioxidants which can counteract ROS. According to some studies, it has an influence to control blood glucose especially Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG). This study aims to determine the correlation between averages of vitamin C intake on FBG levels in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Lamongan, East Java. This study using observational method with cross sectional design in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and 40-59 years old patients in Lamongan in May until December 2015. A total of 38 respondents were selected based on purposive sampling. Data of vitamin C intakes obtained through interviews Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQFFQ) and data of FBS obtained through laboratory tests. Vitamin C intake analysis in this study is using software Nutrisurvey 2007 and correlation between average of vitamin C intake on FBG levels is using SPSS v16.0. Pearson Correlation of test results obtained significance of p = 0.532 thus concluded that there was no relations between the average intake of vitamin C with FBG levels because there are many factors that affecting the absorbtion of vitamin C on body . It is advisable for the next study to investigate further about factors that affects the levels of vitamin C in the body and levels of FBG.
