Nurmayani, Imami (2016) Uji Efek Antifungi Ekstrak Ethanol Kulit Buah Delima Merah (Punica Granatum Linn.) Terhadap Pertumbuhan Candida Albicans Secara In Vitro. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
English Abstract
Candida albicans fungus are known as the most often cause of vaginal infection. About 75% woman have once experienced vulvovaginal candidiasis symptom and among them are reccurent. Antifungal medicine group induce uncomfortable side effects. Red pomegranate rind (Punica granatum Linn.) is rich of chemical compound such as polifenol, flavonoid, and tannin which have been presume as effective antifungal agents. The aim of this research is to know the effect of red pomegranate rind ethanolic extract against Candida albicans growth in vitro. This research uses tube dillusion methode. The sample is obtained from fungus isolate from Microbiology Laboratory of Medical Faculty of Brawijaya University. The extract concentration used are 0%, 7,5%, 10%, 12,5%, 15%, 17,5%, 20%, and 22,5%. The result of one-way-ANOVA statistics shows there is a significant difference in change of red pomegranate rind ethanolic extract concentration to the amount of Candida albicans colony (p<0,05). The correlation test shows there is a strong relation between the extract concentration and the colony amount (Correlation, r = -0,879: p<0,05). Based on this research, it can be concluded that the red pomegranate rind ethanolic extract has an antifungal effect against Candida albicans, with minimum fungicidal concentration of 22,5%.
