Abstract
Asam lemak jenuh merupakan salah satu jenis asam lemak yang cenderung disimpan di dalam tubuh daripada dioksidasi menjadi energi. Kelebihan simpanan lemak di sekitar abdomen, usus, dan liver berhubungan dengan peningkatan risiko terjadinya sindroma metabolik. Salah satu kriteria diagnosis yang dapat digunakan untuk skrining adanya sindroma metabolik pada obesitas sentral adalah melalui pengukuran lingkar pinggang. Obesitas sentral adalah jenis obesitas yang cukup berimplikasi terhadap kesehatan. Secara nasional prevalensi obesitas sentral pada tahun 2013 cukup tinggi, yaitu sebesar 26,6%. Salah satu faktor penyebab terjadinya obesitas pada mahasiswa, khususnya remaja putri adalah kebiasaan makan yang kurang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara asupan asam lemak jenuh dengan lingkar pinggang mahasiswi kos dengan aktivitas fisik ringan di Universitas Brawijaya Malang. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain korelasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Responden dipilih secara consecutive sampling (n=106). Asupan asam lemak jenuh diukur menggunakan metode semikuantitatif food frequency. Lingkar pinggang diperoleh melalui hasil pengukuran antropometri menggunakan pita meter. Analisis data menggunakan uji korelasi pearson. Hasil penelitiaan menunjukkan tidak ada hubungan antara asupan asam lemak jenuh dan lingkar pinggang pada mahasiswi kos dengan aktivitas fisik ringan di Universitas Brawijaya Malang (p=0,347). Kesimpulan penelitian ini yakni asupan asam lemak jenuh tidak berhubungan dengan lingkar pinggang pada subyek mahasiswi.
English Abstract
Saturated fatty acid is a kind of fatty acid which prefer storage in the body to being oxidated into energy. Excess fat storage near abdomen, intestine, and liver has correlation with increased risk of metabolic syndrome. A diagnosis criteria that can use to screening metabolic syndrome in central obesity. Central obesity is a kind of obesity that has implication to health. Nationally, prevalence of central obesity in 2013 fairly high (26,6%). One of the factors causes of obesity in teenage students especially female is poor eating habits. The aim of this study is to understand the correlation between saturated fatty acid intake and waist circumference in female student of Brawijaya University Malang with low physical activity. This study used correlational design with cross sectional approach. Respondents were selected by consecutive sampling (n=106). Fatty acid intake was measured using semiquantitative food frequency. Waist circumference was through the result of antropometric measurements using tape meter. The analysis of data using Pearson correlation. The result of this study shows that there was no correlation between saturated fatty acid intake and waist circumference in female student of Brawijaya University Malang with low physical activity (p=0,347). The conclusions of this study is that saturated fatty acid intake has no correlation with waist circumference in female student.
