Wahono, TitisTunjungDamanti (2014) Hubungan Persentase Lemak Tubuh (% Body Fat) dengan Kadar Vitamin D pada Pasien Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) di RSUD dr. Saiful Anwar Malang. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.

Abstract

English Abstract

Vitamin D is known to affect immune system and prevent autoimmune. Total body fat is one of the variables that affect the level of serum calcidiol with increased adipose associated with decreased levels of serum 25(OH)D. The objective of our study was to prove the relation of body fat percentage (% body fat) and vitamin D levels in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus patients. This observational study used cross-sectional methods performed in 35 female SLE patients at the clinic Rhematologi dr. Saiful Anwar Hospital Malang, productive age and not menopause. Serum vitamin D (25(OH)D) were analyzed using ELISA method. Data body fat percentage (% body fat) was measured by bioelectrical impedance method Analyzer (BIA), measuring instrument used OMRON Body Fat Analyzer HBF-306C models. The relation between body fat percentage (% body fat) with vitamin D level in SLE patients were analyzed with the Pearson test. The results of this study 60,0% of SLE patients had vitamin D level below normal/insufficiency, mean ± SD vitamin D level were 21,73 ± 7,59 ng/ml. Measurement of body fat percentage (% body fat) mean ± SD SLE patients 28,26 ± 8,19%, 20,0 % distribution of the low category, 45,7% normal, 25,7% high, and very high 8.6%. There was significant correlation between of body fat percentage (% body fat) and vitamin D level in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus patients (p=0,015), with medium strength of the correlation (r=-0,409). The conclusion of this study there was significant correlation between body fat percentage (% body fat) with vitamin D level in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus patients with a negative correlation that the higher percentage of body fat (% body fat) then the lower the vitamin D levels. Low levels of vitamin D in SLE patients due to serum 25(OH)D more stored in fat mass rather than distributed.
