Wijayanti, Prima (2014) Hubungan Pola Konsumsi Makanan Sumber Kalsium Dan Magnesium Dengan Kadar Kolesterol Total Pasien Diabetes Melitus tipe 2 di RSU Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang. Sarjana thesis, Universitas Brawijaya.
Abstract
English Abstract
The number of patients with diabetes melitus (DM) in Indonesia in 2000 reached 8.43 million people and is estimated at 21.257 million in 2030. Increased cholesterol levels in patients with diabetes occurs due to energy splitting-up from protein and fat. Several studies have shown calcium and magnesium have the ability to lower cholesterol levels in the blood. This study aims to determine the correlation of food consumption patterns of the source of calcium and magnesium with total cholesterol levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Method study used cross sectional design with purposive sampling (n=53). The results showed the characteristics of female respondents (62.3%), respondents aged 51-59 years (81.1 %), college education (35.8 %), exercise habits (69.8 %), no having smoking habit (92.8 %), no drinking alcohol (100%), once nutritional counseling (71.7%), abnormal cholesterol (62.3 %). Pearsons correlation test results Product Moment found no significant correlation between the consumption patterns of food sources of calcium with total cholesterol (p = 0.705). There is no significant correlation between the consumption of food sources of magnesium pattern with total cholesterol (p = 0.233). The conclusion of this study is no relationship between food consumption patterns of the source of calcium and magnesium with total cholesterol levels of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
